Even my 4x4 tail rig doesnt have a spool. A good lsd for the street is fine for most track days. If you need more then a locker/air locker/e-locker would be my route.

I wouldn't think that installing a weld diff would be a easy install to do just for a weekend by gymkhana event. That has to be a five hour job. When I was in ct I installed a fp green turbo cai and pulley kit on a arc with great results. I would invest in the motor before the parking brake or diff. Just my .02

I must confess, I'm a little confused. I thought the point of those AWD rally cars was that their mechanical and computer systems continuously sorted out optimal traction, sending power to where it would be most effective.

Question: Is there any such thing as manually activated electronic locking diff for these cars, like other 4x4 trucks? Just curious on the tech side.

The problem with a selectable locker in a car is that when it's not locked it a one tire fryer. With a 4x4 that isn't a problem but not so with a performance car. So it would be great for drifting but nothing else.

Geoffrey chandle was the owner of drift50.com before he had a kid and closed the site, they have a lsd/air locker setup in the drift car, when unlocked it worked like a regular lsd, when locked it was like a spool, iirc it was a semi custom setup he fucked with for a year to get right.
