The Explorer received disc brakes starting in '95. That is what year mine is. If you guys are looking for an 8.8 with disc brakes there are about 15-20 of them at the Pick-A-Part in Ontario. That's where I go to get stuff for my Explorer.
Well, I have a pretty good idea of what it would take to make it 4x4. Can we do something with just a 2wd?? I used to build stuff in the early 70s. I actually worked on PJ's and Mickey Thompson's racers back then. I was in two 4 wheel drive mags in that time period.

I worked at Fullerton Tire Co that specialized in custom (for that time) tire and suspension work.

If it has the 5.0 it should be AWD and not 2WD. To have low range you would just have to get a transfer case from an F150. Then add the Dixon Brothers Racing long travel kit ad you're all set. I wanted to install that kit on mine but it's about $4000 and it just the front suspension.

I thought all the 5.0 were AWD, guess not. Well in that case you would have to make everything to covert it.

Congrats Darlene! Exploders are great. Even 2WD you can still lift it and go play in the dirt for relatively cheap!

Perfect for a x-case off an f150 and a junkyard TTB setup. People have gotten 20" of travel out of the TTB.
