I guarantee you a .45 isnt gonna bounce off anything. Even HD loads are still going to make very large holes in an person. The .223 isnt a bad HD round i just think there are better choices, new homes now a days the walls arent thick enough to completely stop the round, not the case with shot guns.
IIRC when we tested the .223 on the dry wall test walls it still went through 2 walls and tumbled into the 3rd. Rarely did the shot shells make it through the first wall.
Shotgun is generally best for HD I think.

I prefer my mossberg 500 persuader for home defense. It has dual extractors and is far more superior than the remy 870. That's just my opinion so don't take it wrong. When the fit really hits the Shan, I have my 1919a4 mounted on a modified mg42 AA tripod. My goal is to take over the local grocery store and set up base camp there.

If the mossy was so superior why does nearly EVERY agency use the 870?
You cant take over anything with a 1919 that only cycle one round at a time
