Someday, maybe before having kids you and Alexis should go to Europe and spend some time. Europe is geographically smaller than the U.S., but you will find enormous differences within small distances. England is an easy starting point since they speak English (sort of) and have a culture that is kind of between America and the continent. The next closest to the US on the whole is Germany. You'll find many cities and small towns that look very similar to the States, but the people talk some funny language and seem to think rather differently, or quite the same depending on your POV. It may seem Ironic given my very America-centric and conservative POV, but I love the French and Italians. Above all, I love their love for life itself, simple, day to day . . . and attention to detail in little pleasurable things. This is something we Americans could learn from.
PS You think the drag strip raises your adrenalin? Rent a fast car and hit the Autobahn.
I remember once driving in the rain in an Audi A6 at around 100mph . . . and being passed by a family in some SAAB Station Wagon thing with bicycles on the top.
