The choices were Camaro Mustang or Challenger. Corvette wasn't on the list, besides, the Corvette isn't a muscle car.

Technically the Camaro and Mustang would be Ponycars and only the Challenger would be a true muscle car, but for all intents and purposes they're all muscle cars

Pony Camaro?

If a 1st gen big block Camaro ain't a muscle car, I don't know what is. Steel body, solid axle, big engine... sounds like the recipe to me.

Opinions vary as to whether high-performance full-size cars, compacts, and pony cars qualify as muscle cars.[11]

There is an intersection between the set of Pony Cars and Muscle Cars. Clearly, V8 Camaros and Mustangs are properly classed as Muscle Cars.
