If it's not common knowledge: Roots blowers make more heat and will need a lower (8:1) CR to make decent boost. Centrifugal and turbos can make less heat and you would only need to drop the CR down to around (9:1) or even keep it as high as 9.5:1 for the same, if not higher, boost levels.

I don't know why everyone crys about the Procharger kits. The only thing that looks cheap in the kit is the BOV, and you can buy a fancy Greddy one if it bothers you that much. The mounting bracket is thicker than my engine block walls and I could drive over the bonnet with my car and it would hold its shape. So I don't know what everyone considers cheap in the kit. Everyone seems to agree they make awesome head units, which is really all that you should care about.

If I were you I'd look for the cheapest option to lower compression, and see how much you can actually lower it, then make your selection based on that. If you find a sweet deal on a set of pistons do that. Otherwise, new heads. If you land around 8:1, consider the roots, otherwise look at the turbos. If you're lazy and you can't drop the compression more than 9:1, centrifugal.

You wont need to lower the CR if your not pushing that much boost. My car ran stock CR 10.9:1 at 7 pounds with no problems (people have run up to 12 psi stock) i'm sure the ls1 can take a few pounds before you need to start to even think about lowing the CR

FI for me it would mean lowering compression for sure. I'm over 11:1 (how much ) and need to bump the gas to 93 in the summer especially. This wold be a big dollar move that isn't in the cards any time soon; just doing some casual thinking about that options.

I know I've said this before---just a quick opening up ( and smoothing) of the chambers will lower your compression enough to live with the high compression.

After finishing RX-Snake, we'll do some stuff, including popping the heads and taking a look. I have some sodium filled valves waiting too.

This was a different question. In my case, I can legally (:mad) install an STS Turbo setup or Pro Charger setup. I was just ruminating on the Pros and Cons between those two. Personally, I'd be into a Twin Screw, but there is no EO/CARB cert for my "2001 F Body".

Pro Charger is my thought. Simple, clean and smooth.
