Default 66 Mustang I6 Motor Mayhem

So my friends 200 I6 has always had issues, never ran right. I decided to help him tune it to get this thing done once and for all. Came to find out that all of his lifters were adjusted incorrectly. Some of them had 3 to 4 turns of preload on them. So I adjusted them all correctly and after some motor flush, an oil change and 10 mins of running, the now damaged lifters pumped up enough to quiet the valve train down.

The car now runs and idles better than it ever has, and I haven't even touched the timing or the carb yet.

My friend has plans to build this thing up to a 300hp beast Turbo FI, all of that, and man are the parts expensive for those motors. The only assembled aftermarket head for it is $1500. I just don't see the appeal of an I6 in a muscle car. Unless it's a Silvia motor in a 1st gen Mustang.
