Default Official: Cadillac recalls 2013 XTS over head restraint issue

Filed under: Sedan, Recalls, Safety, Cadillac, GM, Luxury

The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration has announced a recall of more than 12,000 Cadillac XTS sedans over a head restraint issue.

General Motors is recalling 12,626 XTS models built between October 12, 2011 and August 30, 2012 over Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 202, which pertains to head restraints. Apparently, the Cadillac's rear seat headrests "may not lock in the upright position after being folded forward. If the head restraint is at its lower position and it falls forward, it will not meet the height required by the standard."

This issue could result in an increase risk of neck injuries in the event of a crash. To address this issue, Cadillac is notifying the 12,626 affected owners, and dealerships will replace the units in question with no charge to the owners. This recall commenced yesterday, November 12.
