Scion
Scion might be staying out late these nights trying to
attract buyers in the heavy metal crowd, but it's still getting up on time in the morning to get the business side of things done. The youth-oriented brand kicked off a new program today, called
Motivate, designed to help 10 young (ages 18 to 35) entrepreneurs in the creative arts community start a new business or improve an existing one.
The program starts by interested entrants (specifically those into music, art or retailing) submitting a business plan and a short video about what career they are passionate about. Scion will take up to 5,000 submissions by January 31, 2013, and then pick the top 50 ideas. The top 50 entrants will attend a Scion-sponsored three-day event in Los Angeles where they learn about skills to improve or implement their ideas. Of these 50 people, 10 will win the grand prize of $10,000, a new Scion of their choice and a personal business mentor.
According to
Automotive News, Scion will also follow the 10 winners with a web series to document how their business has fared and how the Scion vehicle they chose helped.
