Default Drag radial vs. all season. (Sidewall stifness)

Would buying a set of drag radials, such as the Nitto NT555R hurt handling performace over a tire such as the Nitto NT555?

NT555R

NT555

I'm sure that they would grip better, but I don't know whether drag specific tires like these might be lacking something that typical tires have to reduce sidewall roll in cornering.

My buddy ran the 275/40R17 NT555R on his GTO as his daily driver tire. The sidewall looked pretty stiff to me just like a regular tire. However, they only lasted 8000 miles.

That's what he did. Up front he was running 245/45R17 NT555.
