Default Costco Gas

Does anybody have any idea where this gas comes from? Is it Arco-like poor quality or reasonably average? I'd still use Chevron for its known consistent properties in the Vette, but unless Costco gas is just crap I'll start filling up the DDs when we're there. 4% rewards FTW!

Okay I never go to Arco just because I always use my ATM card and by the time you pay the fee you’re not saving anything on a smaller tank fill up. That being said I have done work at Arcos truck rack (largest in the us) the operator that I talked to said when all other companies run out they also get there gas there. I worked there for a month I saw every truck in there 76, Chevron, Shell, Moble, etc. The only thing is they put their additives so all gas is basically the same except additives.

Don't know much about it, but the idea that Arco gas is poor seems to be an urban car myth. I have looked everywhere and asked on a couple boards and nobody can provide any evidence at all that Arco gas is any worse than any other. Having said that, I don't put it in the Cobra...

Yep, they all share the gasoline among each other. So going to any one brand station does NOT mean you are getting their gasoline. That has been going on for "forever".

Most of the gas is ARCO anyway. They have the largest refining capacity here. The only difference is the additives.

1 - The additive packs can make a hell of a difference, especially over time.

2 - Many tuners have said time and again that Chevron has the best consistent octane ratings. Though I don't know if any of them have empirically verified this.

3 - Back in the 90s with my Jeep I delivered pizza for a summer. I compared Arco mpg to non-Arco. Arco was CLEARLY down on mpg, about 10% as I recall. I'm not sure why, maybe more highly oxygenated. I also don't know if this still holds.

Anyway, sounds like Costco gas would be just peachy for the DDs at least and I will be on my way to setting a new rewards record.

I agree even though it all stems from the same place the additives are different. Because when I fill up with Diesel from Shell and Shell alone my truck runs like S:Censored: any other Diesel runs great. I have tried different stations and areas and now I just wont run Shell.
