You might want to consider a slight change in your route. When you get to Angeles Forest Highway make a right turn and take it to Angeles Crest Hwy (Hwy 2) then then left up to Newcomb's Ranch. A few months back they chip sealed Upper Big Tujunga and it was dirty and rough.

Here is what it would look like.

Also, as of today it is still closed to Wrightwood:

There is a back way around this if you want to loop down Upper Big Tujunga back to Angeles Forest Highway, turn right, and then turn right again at Mt. Emma Rd..

Route would look like this.
You might have to do something like the 2nd option he has proposed.
