It's really for cruise days. Easy way to "broadcast" details. It would come in handy in some cases, like the ACH cruise where everyone started bailing because they thought the road was closed and it was just guys without front plates peeling off. The occasional slight location change, stuff like that. Twitter would make it easy. Having sort of done this over SMS in the past was an incomparably larger PITA. And I'll use it to post pictures of cats too.
