Reminds me a little bit of something
Michio Kaku said regarding SETI. Maybe broadcasting our presence is not such a great idea. It is entirely plausible that there are intelligences in the Galaxy, let alone Universe, that are as far or further from us than we are to ants. . . . . They may not be all that nice.
On the up side I'd say we're far more likely to screw each other up than be wiped out by aliens.
