the smog on the new diesels is a scam by Cali to get more money... greedy bastards.

Doing what Crane said is a great idea... From what I have heard, it will most likely void your warranty. The techs I talked to at a Chevy and Ford dealer confirmed that. But that just may be the individual dealers themselves and more of an exception rather than the rule.
