Default 2010 Shelby GT500

This is from Hot Rod Mag:

"As we did with the Camaro test, let's get right to the quarter-mile numbers. Our testing was done on the car's production tires (the latest Goodyear F1 supercar tires, sized 285/35ZR19 in the rear) on Infineon's completely unprepped dragstrip, and with a stout 15-to-20-mph head wind. Traction was nonexistent, so keeping out of wheelspin was impossible in the first three gears. Judicious pedaling to get it down the track as quick as possible netted a best pass of 12.67 at 115 mph. It should be much quicker and faster with sticky tires and no head wind.

This performance comes thanks to a 540hp/510-lb-ft, 5.4L, DOHC, supercharged engine that's essentially the same 'plant as the previous GT500's but with more tuning, a new cold-air induction system, a more free-flowing exhaust (with big 4-inch tips), and steeper rear gears (3.55:1 compared with the '07's 3.31s). A bigger (250mm versus 215mm) twin-disc clutch better controls that power, and a nice discovery was that it has a light pedal. The overdriven Fifth and Sixth gear ratios (0.74:1 and 0.50:1, respectively) in the Tremec TR6060 transmission were revised to work with the 3.55s to deliver better throttle response and highway mileage. A 540hp car rated at 22 mph highway-who woulda thunk it?"

Now, that's a FORD!
