My mom is looking to buy a new car.

Parameters
$25k max
New, solid warranty
Dead reliable, zero hassle, period
Mid-sized SUV, Crossover
Reasonable power vs. milage
Excellent visability (does not like smaller enclosed spaces, narrow windows)

Some models so far discussed are
Jeep Patriot and Cherokee
Subaru Forrester (Strong Contender, very highly rated)
Kia Sportage/Sorrento (excellent warranty)

Mitsubishi now has a 10 year, 100,000 mile warranty. I'm really liking the new Dodges. What about the Dodge Journey?

Hyundai Tucson. Shannon had her Santa Fe for years and it was a good car. The Tucson is the smaller size and in your price range. The warranty is also great.

I am not a fan of the Forrester. For me the price point does not reflect the cheap hard plastic throughout the cabin (been a year or 2 since I have been in one so maybe they have upgraded). I keep trying to like them but when I climb into one I feel like I would be over paying for what I am looking at.

Preach on brother. I create spreadsheets for way to many things.

Got a Patriot FWD w/2.4L and Auto. Overall the value equation worked combined with what she wants to use it for.

The new Cherokee is pretty sweet. Nice interior and the 2.4 is good on gas.

It is very nice actually, but its no where near her price range. They also have a turbo diesel option as well. I think she would have liked the Cherokee a lot better than the Patriot.

It needed to be very utilitarian. She's going to use it for throwing big dogs and bikes in the back, stuff like that. Nice interior wasn't necessary; functional and low cost was. The also ran was an Outlander, the Patriot won on price.
