Pedestrian safety

http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/technolo...222726925.html

The above link indicates the concern for pedestrian safety in a vehicle/pedestrian accident. These concerns have resulted in the removal of hood ornaments and pedestrian safety mandated front end designs.

In the interest of pedestrian safety I have come up with the following safety measure

Remove all front license plates from vehicles. These are thin rigid metal plates that can cause serious injury to a pedestrian, has potential for causing a deep cut type injury.

You ready for the stick on plate like the U.K.?

Not sure which one I would want.

I have a better idea...

We need cloverleafs, pedestrian bridges and tunnels and sound wall type separation between peds and traffic. We can have a WPA style construction project retrofitting intersections and sidewalks.

And we can fund it with a chunk of the police budgets that we wont need because traffic will work and there won't be a need for traffic cops, the ones who want to actually do real police work can stay on the job and the ones who just want to write tickets and be general nuisances can go build a road...

How about the pedestrians use common sense before crossing the road. DUI deaths, well, the wrong people die.

I don't know if it is always the pedestrians fault. I went for a jog a few nights ago and some old dude decided he didn't need to stop at a stop sign. Luckily I was just over halfway past the middle of his car and was able to jump over the rest of the hood. Would I rather there be a airbag? No. I would rather the guy stop.

Thats why you should be able to throw something at the car. Ive ripped into a few people who almost hit the 3 of us on different parking lots.

Agree'd.

I definitely let the guy have it. He stopped once he realized that someone was jumping out of his way.

Pedestrians aren't bad at all... the damn cyclists with their stupid tight spandex outfits that thing they own the road... I want them to be tire fodder for big rigs.

Word, those fuckers need to have their bikes shoved up their asses

I agree.

My issue with bicyclists is they only obey the road rules they want to obey.

I have seen groups in my area on weekends where 2 or 3 will block a stop sign intersection so the rest do not have to stop.
