Sadly this isn't the first time I've seen this done.

Here we go, this is where I saw it before:

Did you ever hear the story from Sean about the kid who polished his rotors and rather immediately thereafter crashed?

I'm going to have mine ceramic coated so they don't get so hot.

Oh no!!!

On my friends Ranger one of them was completely glazed from rubbing on the metal backing plate of the completely worn down brake pad. So going against the grain we rubbed them down with 80 grit to break up the glaze before installing new brakes. It worked pretty well.

What makes this more hilarious is that this pic is displayed on a website not to show that this guy is a moron, but to show examples of candy red. I guess most painters are not also mechanics.

That's interesting. Should work fine I guess. I've always just used the hard braking cycle.

If I don't have mine turned I usually hit them with one of these just to rough them up a bit.

Mine never make it that far. They always start cracking and failing due to heat stress. At least he didn't paint a Mexican flag or a Poncho Via portrait on it.

You should ceramic coat yours too. Maybe we can get a group discount.
