Priming the oil system on an LS2

I would normally ask Phil (Throttle Crazy) or Brendan (ronsfriend) but since both are gone I figured I check to see if anyone knows. How do you prime a fresh engine before the first startup? I've only built engines that have oil pumps driven off the cam so I've always been able to just prime it with a drill motor and something to slip into the pump like an old distributor. How do you prime an LS?

Paul (LS1Z28) will know. I'll give him a call tomorrow if he doesn't post up :)

Oh, and what are you putting an LS in?

It's not for me. A friend asked me and I didn't have a clue. Phil and Brendan know LS engine but I don't.

Crank the motor without the plugs or remove the fuel pump fuse/relay until pressure is read on a gauge.

That's what I would do, prime it with the starter.

I spoke to Phil last week about this and he said that's what he did when he was building engines at the dealership. He'd just crank it over until he saw oil in the head.
