Diesel Jeep Build Thread

What kind of build? Im not sure. Ill either lift it and modify an 08 bumper to fit it. Or lower it and paint some SRT-8 bumpers to match.

But for tonight, painted and cleared diff cover... yes, this is what I do at 1:30am

For tomorrow: Installing an aviation oil separator. Lots of the diesel Jeep guys are having problems sucking in too much oil, causing a leak on the intake and a failing swirl motor. Hopefully this will fix the problem.

Lift!

Haha, coming from the guy with a BBC muscle car, a supercharged daily driver, and a lifted tank. Tell me Ron, why do you hate your gas mileage so?

The last trip I made out to a customers in Woodland Hills I pulled just over 23mpg. That was driving at 70-75mph there and a combination of 65-70 with stop and go home. I don't think that's too bad for a daily driver.

Damn... not not at all. Thats some tune you got there.

enkeivette 04-24-2013 11:10 AM

I hate it when muscle guys joke about mpg. Im always just thinking, well buy a wideband and tune it. My Vette isnt bad either, I do about 20 on the freeway. AFR was tuned for 14.7 idle and freeway, but depending on the temp it can richen up all the way to high 13s. Cant avoid that with a carb.

Some guy at Fabulous Fords with a blown 1st gen was joking about getting 6mpg "all tuned up." Hire a new tuner and stop wasting our fuel.

MPG has a lot to do with how you drive. On long trips with the 302 the Cobra would pull around 21 when driving at around 70-75. When I took it on the Roval I got about 3MPG.

The blue truck after all the work gets about 21-24 mpg with mixed asshole driving. I'll see what it gets with economy specific driving but I doubt it'll be much better.

Diesels are awesome, Im sure your gas truck got 12 or 13. Ive heard guys who lift their Diesel Jeeps are doing as bad as 12-13 though, depending on how crazy the lifts get.

I know the new super dutys got around 20 average, what have you done to yours to get it so high up?

The tuner for mine is supposed to get it up 2-4 mpg and then removing the DPF does another 2-3 mpg. Ill bet I could hit 30 with all of that done and some conservative driving, maybe some SRT suspension too.
