1970 T-bird

Ok children...here's the story;

Yesterday morning I stop for gas at Arco and get 5 gallons of 91 oct.

Drive on for 5 minutes and the car just stops running. Finally get it running, but barely get it to work. No power then for a few second it runs good... then no power again ( very rough idle. but power brake some and it smooth's out}...but no real pattern.

So I let it sit and tried to drive it home after work. Just wouldn't run good enough to drive in traffic. So had to get a tow.:(

So I had to get the Vette out to drive to work...haven't driven it in a year. Drove good even though there are big chunks missing off the body.:sm_laughing:

Did you take a look at it last night or are you waiting for the weekend? Sounds like you sucked something up into your new carb.

It does have a GOOD fuel filter.
Haven't looked at it yet...but it had the smell of bad water/gas to the exhaust....:(

Going to clamp gas line and pour fresh gas down carb bores to see it runs any better...give me a few seconds to see if it is a fuel issue...it isn't then the real fun starts

If this is a bad gas issue...this is the WORST I have ever seen.

Are you buying gas out of the back of someone's pickup?

Worse, he said he bought Arco.

Ive been nervous that I was going to run out of gas, and still I pass Arco stations. I would rather call AAA.

They got in trouble for too high of a water concentration in their gas a while back. Had a friends grandma who only purchased Arco, and her gas tank rotted from the inside out. Had a friend fill his quad with it, after the weekend riding it wouldnt fire up. Jets were clogged with mineral deposits.

If the idle is rough, my money is on it being too rich. Ill bet its leaking and dumping fuel somewhere.

If it were that lean I would think you would hear it spit.

OK...lets assume I know what I'm doing when it comes to carbs:judge:

Been doing shit to Vette so it is better to drive to work.
I'm going to take a quick look on Saturday...I'll know more then.

It's been a while and you're old, maybe you forgot.

Problem is when you know what youre doing sometimes you cut corners and reuse parts because you feel like you can get away with it.
