Blackax's New POS
So some of you know that I spent this last weekend driving 1800 miles in three states to pick up an old truck.
First: I have to say fuck New Mexico, every moment we where in that damn state it was snowing. At some points we couldn't see 10 ft in front of the trucks. Second: The truck Drives great. Yes it has a few problems but for the price and what is done to it then they aren't that big of a deal. Third: FUCK NEW MEXICO! Spec 1988 Isuzu Trooper II Front Dana 44 5.38 Gears Warn Hubs FJ40 Leaf Springs Rancho 9100 Shocks Open diff Rear Isuzu 12 Bolt 5.38 Gears Wheel Spacer to match Front Axle longer Shackle Add-a leaf One piece Drive Shaft with Isuzu U-Joints Wheels 15x10 Weld Raceing wheels 6 Inch Offset 35x12.5x15 BFG AT Transmission / Transfer case Isuzu Mau 5, 5 Speed 94+ Rodeo Transfer case housing Tera-low Transfer case Gears 3.07:1 2.6 EFI inline 4 Oil Filter Relocation Pacesetter Long Tube header K&N Air tube and filter Here are a few pic's |

It need's about $300 in parts and tuneup |
The short list of upgrades that she will get.
Isuzu 2.3 cam Drop in replacement and is better then the aftermarket crap. Isuzu 92+ 12 bolt rear Its a 61 wms to wms (up from 59) They are also coiled so I might build a 3 link for it but i'm not sure yet. If I don't coil it i'll do a spring over and move to smaller Shackle to level out the truck a little better. Light bar 4+ lights New front bumper New front seats with ARM RESTS 60/40 Split rear bench seat. They fold flat to turn into a bed roll cage |
Nice buy.

Let's do this.
|
Ya, i guess i'm in too.
|
Can you guys wait a month until I get my truck done? I'm just waiting for my tax return so I can finish it.
|
Shit, i'll wait a couple months so its not uncomfortable to drive anymore.
|
Well I just bought a new CB for the truck and I wanted to run my power cables a little bit more cleanly then just splicing in to power or hooking it straight up to the battery.
It's and 8 port fuse block. Right now I only have 6 wired up to an external plug. I think 6 Fused links should be fine for all the stuff that I will ever add to the truck Still need to clean it up and finishing mounting everything but you get the idea. |
I have a CB somewhere I bought back in the day for the PA feature it was so loud when i had it hooked up in my old truck. I could pull people over (not that I ever did that) ah the good old days.

I started work on a new center console. My goal is to make is lockable and usable as an arm rest. I also needed a place to mount my CB ( i was going to mount it on the inside of the box but that didnt work out as i was planing)
I had to narrow the front a little to make it fit between the seats Primered with the CB mount welded up. |
Well I got back from my Death Valley trip all safe and what not...Well on the trip I broke my front axle. I still need to dig into it and figure it all out. I'm gonna pick up a locker and a rebuild kit and do it all at the same time. I'm even toying with the idea of doing a link setup wile I have it out. We will see what happens.
|
Will you have it done for the run on the 26th?

I was going to ask how hard the trail we are going on is? Do I need to be locked? I do have my other trooper (its has an open front and a posi in the rear) that I can bring if MOZES isn't ready |
Ben did it the last time we went with his stock jeep the is open at both ends and I used to do it all the time when the Explorer just had the TT, and open front with limited slip in the back. Your other truck will make it though fine if you don't have this one done.
