Internet Options I'm Not Aware Of
So it's about 99% now I'll be moving to a rural residential area. As far as I can tell, the only available internet is DSL, (and 6mbps at that), no cable provider, or fiber (Uverse/FIOS). I was thinking maybe to do hotspot with my 4G, but that would be too expensive.
I'm looking at you blackax. This is in Riverside. |
You are looking to move out to the woodcrest area right? Check to make sure charter doesn't serve your new place. I don't know of a place in riverside that can get DSL and not charter.

Try this site to see if there is a cable provider at your new place.

There's electricity and water, that's it. No sidewalks, street lights, sewer, gas, . . .uh, road (there is a dirt road). Yet it's half mile from a development. Probably just out of range. |
Is it riverside electric or so cal Edison?
|
Pray its riverside electric, Your bill will be half of what it would be with Edison. My friends with Edison is an APT spent over 400 - 500 a month this summer, I spend less then 250, and that will shop tools, servers on 24/7 and AC going.

However, especially if I settle in and feel like I'll be there for a while, I'll go to a full off grid combo system (generator, solar, wind with a battery bank.) All of these things are getting rapidly cheaper and higher quality. Even if I just do a bit to back feed and drop the bill to zero point. |
Fuck Edison.
|
Confirmed. It is Edison. On the upside, looks like NG might be available if I wanted to have it connected.
