Bye bye old boat motor.

More pics tomorrow of the new motor install.

Did I miss something whats going in?

Same thing basically, putting my old Vette engine in it. But that one is an original 67 Camaro numbers matching short block. And the block alone is worth more than I paid for the boat. Also, the motor is tired I can tell, so I'd rather put a fresher one in there so I don't get stuck on the water. I'm hopefully maybe selling it to a machine shop that will rebuild it and they will sell it for a profit.

What, with all those muscles you don't want to row your boat back to shore? Amy and I had an old 16ft boat with an outboard that was made in 1962. Every time we took it out it would break down in the middle of the lake and we'd have to row it back to shore. It sucked and was fun at the same time.

How much newer is your Vette engine?

The vette engine only has about 82K miles on it. But this one is tired I can tell, it complains when I crank it. Prob because the way it was set up before it never got to full operating temp. The water valve coming from the jet was fully open. I had to set it to allow the engine to get up to 180 degrees.

And the air filter was just a metal mesh. I think I'll ditch the scoop and run a real filter this time. Which reminds me, does anyone have a non-drop base 14" base for an air clear that they would want to trade for my drop base? Mine is the biggest drop base available, like 2.5" or something.

Also, I do have a set of oars under the rear seat for plan B.

That metal mesh is most likely the flame resistor which is required in a merine application. Can you post pictures of it?

Gay. It doesn't look like it works well as a filter at all.

Does it look something like this?

enkeivette 01-13-2011 06:45 PM

Ya, but really tiny. I'm just going to run a real filter and I'll keep the arrestor in the boat under the seat. If some dick head tries to keep me out of the launch area I'll throw it on.
