Autocross

Some of us have done the Porsche Car Control clinic a few years ago. I have been to the last 3 Saturday clinics, but always woke up wishing I had done the full autocross event Sunday. Now I have ! I had a great time...I was NOT competitive , in my 40 year old, 3600 lb Camaro, but DAMN that was fun !

My instructor took me for a ride around the course in his ZO6 Corvette, and he had best timed run of the day. That alone was worth the cost of the event!

I was 15-16 seconds off the pace ! And a stock Scion FRS was running the same times as me !

I don't think it helped, but during the track walk, I figured this was the guy to follow!

I've been doing autox up at the camarillo airport the past few months. They cap the cars to 25, you don't have to work course, and the cars are incredible. JCG restorations (see: blu balz) usually have a restomod car or two who come out and rip up the course. There are also some cobra kit cars and a nice variety of everything else. Not scca, these guys run it all themselves.

They're shutting it down for a few months, runway is getting repaved. Running this Sunday and then I'll have to wait for them, but it's worth it. Www.camarilloautocross.com

Will post pics later

Yeah, that Z06 was ALOT faster than you! My brother wants to start doing autocross and I told him its not about how fast you go (unless you are actually competing), its about having fun. I want to start doing autocross sometime soon actually.

Does El Toro still hold autocross events?

Here is the local calender

http://www.motorsportreg.com/index.cfm/event/calendar. The events are posted for registration about 3 weeks before event date.

March 9th is the next Porcshe Club America event at El Toro. If Frankie didn't already have plans for us , I would be there.

April 6 I am planning to attend.

They warned us this could be the last year. The developer has not renewed the lease for next year.

Any thoughts on handling upgrades? I think there's quite a bit now for the 2nd Gen Camaros.
