Dress Shirts

There are few things in the world I hate more than wearing a dress shirt and a tie, and recently I've been wearing them more often than not.

The reason I hate it is because I feel like I'm being asphyxiated. The biggest neck size I can find is a 17 1/2, which feels snug, and I don't fucking like it. But it's the best I can find. Plus, when I try on a shirt with an 18" plus neck, the shirt looks like it's made for a 300lb man. 17 1/2 shirts are already a bit too big for me.

I'm looking at this kid in my class who is wearing a dress shirt today, and it looks to me like he has some room in there. Do I just have a fat neck? Do I need to get some shit custom tailored? Or do all of you feel asphyxiated too?

I would probable get it tailored. I've done that with suits. I've been wearing a dress shirt and noose around my neck for years now...it feels alright after a while.

Or...I would switch to Light beers :)

Haha, I'm pretty lean and I hate beer. I think I just have a fat fat neck!

When I was younger, I had my shirts tailored to fit because my neck size was large for my waist. I also had to get my pants taken in at the waist because my legs would not fit in pants that were my waist size.

I am the same way, sorta. I have an 82" reach and am only 6'1 so my hands touch my knees at a normal standing position. When i bought my suits i had everything tailored, i figure at $700 a suit it should fit comfortable. And im glad i made the choice for the extra cost, when i do put it on i dont feel trapped and actually like how everything fits in all the odd places especially. Plus sans the red tie and black isotoners i look like the hit man :) well and the beard and hair haha

I hate dress shirts and ties. I had to wear then when I working for an engineering firm in La and now get to wear t-shirts and shorts every day If I want to. I always felt the necks were too tight. I have the same problem with pants. I always wear a belt because my legs and butt never fit for my waist. Preach on brother Adam.
