We have talked about this at my last 2 Camaro club cruises. We do just cruise and not get stupid in that club. But my GOPRO app is now open to "delete all files" when I'm driving with it on.
We can guess some horsing around happened, at some point during the drive. Our ego sometimes over rides our common sense, while driving our toy cars.

The problem with this is "follow the money". PDs make money off impounded cars.
They park near nightclubs and pull over people hoping to get a DUI.
So I could see some cop(s) watching a car event and 5-10 cars pull out, the drives may not even be going the same place, but they leave at the same time (Tustin Village where cars leaving are backed up at a light) one car squeals his tires and the cop pulls everyone over and impounds the cars or maybe just takes the license info and like these guys they come and take his car.

I can't say it was that day, where I live I can hear the crotch rockets on Santiago Cyn, but one day months ago I heard a lot of exotic cars winding it up, probably on Jamboree where it's 4 lanes divided and 50mph limit.
I'm sure they were not driving like they were going to a funeral. You got a $100K+ car you are gonna play with it. I see this as a money grab.

I want a dash cam type unit but I want it hidden, the camera behind the grille and the unit hidden inside but I can't find one reasonably priced. There is apparently one that has a rear mount camera too but that sucker is ~$500.

It's all nonsense revenue collection.

I forget the username at the moment, but one fella on here has a full stealth camera and Radar setup.

That’s probably me. I installed the radar detector on the Pontiac and the camera on the V.W. Unfortunately, the photos I posted got deleted somehow; no idea why. http://www.motorgen.com/forum/showthread.php?t=42194

There's a certain distance officers must stay from those establishments, too close, or using the "saw him leave the bar, get into his car and leave" constitutes entrapment as just leaving a business is not legal probable cause for a stop. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, but there's a pretty good defense for a decent attorney if it does go down like that.

It's been going on for decades, people go to Irwindale Speedway, leave their hoods open in the staging lanes while some off duty cop goes around and shoots the shit with people. He calls over to his buddies that are on duty, gives a car description, mods that may or may not be legal, and IPD pulls them over as they leave the property. Won't be a drag night where you won't see 10 plus car pulled over on the street as they leave, usually ricers.

One night we saw some tubbed and caged challenger do the fattest burnout I've ever seen on a public street near the house. He had numbers on the window, and I remember thinking "what a fucking idiot, he's gonna get popped" until he drove to Covina P.D. and parked in the rear officer lot, next to a ZR1 and a very clean datsun.

Moral of the story, rules are only for the peasants to follow. :ugh:

This is also the exact reason I don't do cruises. Only hang out nights, more than two cars for a drive is asking for a hassle even when you aren't doing anything but going to dinner with friends. Sucks that it's like that, but this is Kaliforniastan
