Coronado SPeed Festival

Spent last Saturday at the Speed Festival. It was awesome. Here are some pics:

Here is a Solstice V8 with an Alfa Romeo Front end and badging on 20"s not my stile:

A Fox done right:

Snake skin GTR: again not my bag, but the owner is a co-worker so I have to be nice. He hits about 160 on the Big track at Willow.

A Cayman or and old school 911 are serious possibilities for my future:

The photo's don't do these two justice. They had some HUGE rubber.

R888's can make any car with curves look sexy. Not that this one needed help.

427 ITB's that could hit 238 mph on the long straight at Sebring winning the 12 and 24 hour races.

I took these for Ron. Vortech with a aftercooler on a 5.0.

Great pics. That widebody Vette and the Coyote Harbinger make my pants especially tight. The Cobra ain't too shabby either.

What interests you with an old school 911? Do you know Werks2? I got my Sparco from them and they do a ton of Porsche work and racing. They're also in the same complex and I think now own Guldstrand Motorsports.

I like that '85-'86 Mustang. My buddy bought an '84 back in '89 and it's the reason I like Mustangs. That aftercooler won't fit in my engine bay unfortunately.

I've liked old school 911's before I could drive. I was seriously considering a 993 turbo or a 996 turbo instead of the vette. I want to put together an old school European or Japanese racer / canyon carver just to drive to Car meets and hang out. Autopower is currently building a eight point cage for the vette so that will never be driven on the street. The stang will get a power adder, clutch, rims, but that's it (Maybe). There is an old 240 thats been parked for the last 3 years in my condo that I may try and pick up on the cheap.

240's are cool, I'd wouldn't mind having one with an LS. Same goes for anFC and FD RX7. I've never been a Porsche guy though. I've seen a lot of nice looking ones but never thought to myself that I would like to have one.

On San Diego car meats face book page they are selling an 87 RX 7 for 500 that starts

I think a 911 was among my first favorite cars too, maybe back around 12 years old.

I'm thinking that once I get rid of the Aveo and the Fox, to go a slightly different direction with the Snake. Namely forget the blower, put in the TII rear and basically stock running gear, finish the NA 5.0 and use it as a poor man's track day/autoX. The C3 will remain a looonng term project to make cooler. Sooner rather than later though I'd like to do a Guldstrand 5-link at his shop while he's still around. It all depends on money and I haven't been catching any breaks in that department for a while.

My brother has the VG30ET and trans from Ron's old 300Z waiting for a 240 someday.

So I go walk my dog and this is what I see parked outside:
