Recommend a polisher.
I'm looking to buy a polisher for Christmas. I've narrowed it down to the Porter Cable UDM or the Meguiars G110v2. Does anyone have any experience of recommendations?

I've used a Craftman 7 inch for 35 years.:p

You of all people should not own a polisher. Unless you plan to use it for wax only.

I have a Milwaukie I bout 30 years ago. The MAIN thing when buying a polisher is speed. NEVER buy anything that excedes 1,000 RPM. If it is, it's a GRINDER in sheeps clothing. I never run over 700 RPM or so.
IF your just doing one car, I'll loan it to you. I have a 50/50 "cutting pad", and a 100% wool "buffing pad." |

Think about it this way, common sand papers used by pros in order from rough to fine.
80 120 220 320 400 600 800 1000 1500 2000 Polishing Compound Yes, it's an abrasive. Yes, it sands down your clear coat. Yes, if you run the buffer over a corner you can quickly sand off all of the clear coat. |

Sean get the Flex XC3401 it has a lot more power than either the PC and Megs so once you feel comfortable you can use more aggressive polish and pads to achieve better paint correction.

I'm with Glenn, $300 for something that spins a buffing pad is about 10x too much. |
I'm not sure about the meguire's product, but I heard Tila Tequila does a goog job.

Sean, if you buy a velcro pad for my DA you can stick a $5 buffing pad to it. I'll let you have it for $299 because you're a friend, and I paid nearly a 1/10th of that. ;)
