Snow Cruise

It might be time to plan the first ever Motorgen Snow Cruise.

SeanPlunk 01-22-2010 10:57 AM

Sounds like fun to me. I'm leaning towards the 13th for the GMR cruise, so what about February 20th? I'll have to check with Jeff to see if he could go.

blackax 01-22-2010 12:02 PM

I dont have the best truck in the world but it should be able to handle most of the snow. Im in

Chuck 01-22-2010 03:36 PM

Count me in Licence or not!!!

Phil and I are going this Sunday up to Lytle Creek which is about 25 minutes from our houses. I'm not sure if there will still be snow by February 20th.

enkeivette 01-22-2010 04:21 PM

I'll be there. Going to mount sprockets on all four wheels and link them front to back with chains. I just won't be able to turn.

We had a good time yesterday. We left at about 10:45am and tried to go up to Lytle Creek but the rangers had the road going in closed due to too much traffic. So we headed around the back side off of the 138 just to find out that the CHP had the road closed. We ended up just going up Cleghorn Fire Road. Here are some pictures and a video Eric shot with his phone. Again we forgot to take a camera. Phil brought his camera so maybe he'll post up some more pictures later.

I need to buy a jeep - it looks so much fun.

I have some pics on my camera and I will post them when I get time. Here is one I had on my phone.

You had to post one with the tow strap hooked to my truck, didn't you?

We need to find some places I can bring my truck to. Either that or you guys can keep pulling me out when my truck gets stuck. I now wish I had a 4x4 and not a 2WD. :(

BRUTAL64 01-25-2010 11:04 PM

Just think a brand new Super Duty Ford f250 with 4x4.:judge:

Your truck wouldn't have made it on this trail. I kept getting stuck up to my diffs and had to dig the snow out so I could keep going. When it started to get dark we just strapped my truck and Phil just gave me a tug when I started to get stuck.

Sounds like a great straight axle 4x4 conversion project.

That is more the road I was going but we will see. I am gonna need to come out to your place here some time soon and get my extra 3" a-arm lift put on as well as new ball joints. The list is quite long for fixing up the truck a little bit since it has some years and miles on it now.

When I was in the Oregon Forestry service, many of our firetrucks were 2WD with a posi or locker installed. That with 150-250 gallons of water we used to get the truck in all kinds of places without getting stuck. We did get busted for mud running the trucks once because although we washed the trucks before we returned to the station, we forgot to wash the engine compartment. When our foreman opened the hood, the engine was a block of mud. Our favorite was the 1973 Chevy dually with the 454. Our regular firetruck was a 1967 Ford F500 with a big 6, 5speed and dual range rear end. It carried 650 gallons of water.

if ur getting stuck u should reconsider ur lines up a hill on snow. i live in alaska and i havent got stuck yet and the deepest snow ive got into was 2 ft. and i only have 31s and a 3 inch lift with a stock motor on my 88 ford bronco 2. dnt rush to get up a hill or if u feel like ur getting stuck back up and hit it again faster, cuz uve packed down the snow the first try ull get better luck the 2nd or 3rd shot... trust me never been stuck 4x4in u just have to b smart about it

94cobra69ss396 01-05-2011 12:43 PM

Thanks but me getting stuck was due to my tires. My Explorer also has a stock 4.0 engine but I'm up about 5 inches over stock and did a solid axle swap on it. I'm also running 33's with 4.56 gears and a locker in the front. My brothers Jimmy has a 4 inch lift with 35's and a 400hp 383.

Chuck 01-05-2011 02:31 PM

94cobra69ss396 01-05-2011 02:35 PM

I was thinking about taking my daughters this Saturday but I have to see how my wife is doing first. She's having surgery today.

Chuck 01-27-2012 01:18 PM

It kinda makes me want to do a snow cruise though.

Shaolin Crane 01-27-2012 10:16 PM

Me too, if only I had a 4x4, oh wait....
