God I wish they sold these in the States..

The Ford Falcon F6 310. Such a gorgeous car:

Oh, and check out this torque curve :hail:

Vettezuki 07-02-2009 11:33 PM

Is that a production car?

Leedom 07-03-2009 12:53 AM

Can you say flat?! I would assume that car is an Aussie productions model. I like it!

BRUTAL64 07-03-2009 08:32 AM

Not bad for a FOUR door.:p

Yes. It's kind of like the Australian version of SVT. I think they call it FPV (Ford Performance Vehicles).

That dyno graph is made up. There is no way that is making over 550 Lb-ft of torque and just over 300 HP at 5200 RPM. That is an impossibility, considering HP is just a calculation. Torque is what is actually measured. (Torque X RPM)/5252 = HP.

The lines do appear to cross at 5250 and that dyno graph is in metric units. I think the torque would convert to approx. 405 ft/lb and the hp would convert to 416.

Yeah, I saw they crossed at the right place. The numbers just didn't make sense. I guess it makes more sense with the metric units (I haven't done the math), but I still think that flat torque line is BS. I've never seen a real graph look like that.

Stock time slip for an XR6 (not even the F6 310) - damn impressive:

12.59@112mph with a 2.04 60ft.

BADDASSC6 07-06-2009 10:40 PM

I call bullshit on the Dymmoc chart and the timeslip. Also I've never seen any type of measured output draw absolutely straight lines.

Yeah, you're right on. It's basically just the dyno sheet Ford released at the announcement. Here is the same sheet for the new Taurus SHO, see any similarities?

The times the guys are running in mildly modded Falcon's is impressive though. They run easy low 12's with mild mods and seem to be able to run 11's relatively easily.

Maybe just and overly aggressive smoothing function for the graphic display.

SoCalC55 07-06-2009 11:12 PM

agreed, sweet car... Ford needs to take quite a few non US cars and bring them over here *cough*Focus RS

Speaking of 4 doors, I've decided I want one of these eventually:

A Mitsubishi Galant VR4. They have AWD and are powered by the good old 4G63T engine :hail:

BRUTAL64 07-07-2009 10:04 AM

Sean:
I'm speechless.

SoCalC55 07-07-2009 10:50 AM

Nah, you can pick them up for like $4500 and how awesome would it be to have a low 12 second beater car? How pissed off would you be if I beat you in a race in one of those

Death Cult has a friend who turned one of these into a psyco-sleeper.

I talked to an insider Ford guy on another site and he says the same Ecoboost engine with AWD could be done in a Fusion. He said he didn't see it happening soon though because it would steal sales away from the SHO

I wonder how far Ford had to reach up its ass to pull out that graph.

That's totally sensible though. And thank god somebody is thinking about how to actually generate a profit and enable economies of scale.

thats so lame...they would have a killer car on their hands if they had made the fusion sho instead.
