More Smog fun

My buddy took his '07 Mustang GT to get smoged and they told him "no Way" he has to take off the TB, CAI, Shorty headers, X-pipe (has the factory cats) and the mufflers that they are all Illegal in our wondeful state.
Any one have any ideas or am I doomed to help him remove it all

Go to a different smog shop. Mufflers aren't a smog device, sounds like bitchy smog techs.

That's what I told him too

If they have the carb stickers then he is fine.

mustangray 03-07-2013 06:55 PM

Good news he took it some where else and she passed

Shaolin Crane 03-08-2013 12:45 AM

Shocking

blackax 03-08-2013 09:16 AM

Its so sad that they care about anything else besides if it pass's the sniffer.

mustangray 03-08-2013 10:21 AM

the smog guy even commented that it was the cleanest (running) Mustang he's seen in a long time

I speak from experience on this.

I love the smog industry. It is the only public service industry where you pay somebody $$$ and pray they do a half azzed- crappy job !!

BADDASSC6 03-09-2013 01:26 PM

And when they do a correct inspection, some get pissed off. I was a little frustrated with my smog check, but it's my own fault.

BADDASSC6 03-10-2013 12:43 PM

Ok. I thought it was 420 at the wheels. I live close to JBA so I'm going with CAI from JLT and exhaust. I'm hoping for mid four hundreds.

Sounds cool, I've talked with my buddy about a tune he says he can get me 40-45HP without changing anything or the best bang for the buck just super charging so i'm still contemplating where to waste my money

It's important to carefully consider who to dispose of one's money.

Shaolin Crane 03-10-2013 03:34 PM

Or leave it stock? I'd like to buy a car and leave it stock one day.

Yeah, me too.:uh:

Shaolin Crane 03-11-2013 09:45 AM

I'm serious, i'm sick of working on shit. Goal, buy Z06, enjoy. Done.

Vettezuki 03-11-2013 11:31 AM

It's not hard.

Step 1: Buy car that works
Step 2: Don't do anything to it

Modification and customization is fun though. There's still a lot I'll do to the old Vette over time, but most of it will be in the form of paying someone else to do it. Just don't have the time to be cracking my own knuckles that much. Still looking forward to Lemons and Snake completion over time which are pure purpose built cars involving tons of modification, but that (for me) has far more to do with social interaction/fun than the car itself.

Damian 03-11-2013 02:10 PM

Guy, you don't have it in you to leave shit alone, neither do I. It's just the way we are. There is always gonna be something you don't like about a car and you're gonna want to make it better and by then the process has already begun.

Vettezuki 03-12-2013 11:12 AM

Well, you guys know where to start then.

BADDASSC6 03-12-2013 09:07 PM

Shaolin Crane 03-12-2013 10:24 PM

I have nothing to prove anymore.
