Since the format change

Since you guys changed the format (layout) I've noticed (what looks like) a decline in posts.

Am I right or not?

Yes. But it seems to be a pure function of overall traffic. In other words, at least for now, I'd relate it more to traffic than to format. I'm usually a very atomic thinker, I love lots of precise divisions, but enkei made a good point. Until and unless we get some fairly heavy volume of traffic and posts, it was too refined.

More than anything, we've got to find a way to build up the initial traffic to the site in the first place. I'm hoping that once the project car is complete and goes on the road here and there, that it will help. Also need to investigate some other "marketing" possibilities because what we've been doing so far ain't getting it done good enough. I'm just talking about getting people to the site in the first place. The cast of regulars here are a great group and Sean and I still believe very much in the basic idea of Motorgen. We gotta just keep mixing it up and building til we hit that winning combination. It'll be even more funner when we do.

Did you guys save the old code if you decide to change it back?

It could be changed, but I honestly prefer the new layout. Traffic seems to be down everywhere though (not just our site).

Yes, thereare backups of the database. However, because new content is being added all the time, I could only use it as a guide for reconstructing the forums. This would be pretty damn low on my list. Like I said, the actual traffic has been lower since the change, so I don't think fewer posts has anything to do with the format. I kinda like it for its simplicity, and more than few times have people said something to the effect of ,"wow, there's so much stuff, I don't know where to put anything." The funny thing is I think we're about as simple and straight forward as it gets compared to other auto community sites, relative to the features we have. We have a basic marketing and critical mass challenge more than anything. Also, there's definitely some beautification and refinement that needs to be done, but we aren't exactly a cash rich operation. :smack:

I'll be sure to mail you some head shots.

Finals season is here for me, & a good percentage of online trash talkers are college kids. Just a thought.

I'm thinking to Break Domestic and Imports into. This bit would be somewhat like what we had.

Domestic
European
Asian

Are you saying my deeply considered multi-page posts on society, politics, economics, art and history are no match for boobies?

I'm sorry, were you saying something?

Stand by perverts.

Ok, there's now a photo section at the bottom where it belongs. You can now upload photos and put them in this category. Please don't make me regret this. . .

JunglePam is just fine, though you uploaded a rather small image . . . Think Sports Illustrated, cover of Low Rider . . . something along these lines. If I see exposed bits directly related to the birthing and/or nursing of children, they'll probably get deleted. There is some grey area here. I'll try to find something that represents the outer limits of what would be "reasonable".

Vettezuki 04-30-2009 02:34 AM

Nws

Okay, after some hard work, I've found what I think can be a barometer for about where the line is. It's still got a car in it and is still somehow classy. . . . ok maybe not classy, but you get the idea. There's some others up as well to set a tone or average.

So we are only allowed to post pics containing less than or equal to 50% of the nipple and areola? Is that limited to one half nipple per pic, and only side boob?

Meaning, if the shot is taken from underneath (bottom boob) or an aerial view of the boob (aerial areola) displaying only half of each nipple, is this ok? Or do the two halves constitute a whole?

What if the half nipples are on different women? I think two half nipples on two different women ought not constitute a whole, that would be absurd.

:D

enkeivette 05-01-2009 07:28 PM

:winner: Adam FTW, with the single post containing the most repition of the word nipple. :woot:

I like how annoying you are. I've populated the photo category with a broad sampling as a frame of reference. Use your judgment. If a user makes what I think to be a mistake, I'll take it to the collective, if it's over the line, it'll be deleted. If the same user repeatedly makes the same kind of mistakes, we'll advise him directly and so on. The whole section will be toast if it is abused or if some of the regulars complain about it much. We're just taking taking it as a test drive for those of you with more prurient interests.
