"New" Truck

So I need some wheels, i've been borrowing my lady's car since the incident and now that i'm back from vegas i've located and worked a deal for a decent 1996 f150 eddie bauer 4x4 for $1500. Seller claims it needs a freeze plug but i'm bracing myself for a cracked block. Good thing I have another 306 to put in if that happens. Now just gotta get it home somehow

Not too bad even for a ford truck.

Shaolin Crane 01-07-2012 03:51 AM

At least a failed (anything) in this truck is a day long job at most

Chuck 01-07-2012 10:55 AM

Good job 4wd you can go out to Pismo with me.

Shaolin Crane 01-07-2012 12:02 PM

I guess I can now.

Done deal, $500 deposit left and contract signed, will be picking it up either this upcoming weekend or the next weekend

If we dont have something going on, we can do it the 14th, but I have a feeling we do. If not i'll let you know ASAP.

Neat truck.

P.S. Looks like you even get you're very own set of Ben Wa balls in the deal... ;)

Shaolin Crane 01-08-2012 10:48 AM

I'll add them to my growing collection.

So i decoded the VIN and it doesnt have a 5.0 like i previously thought. it has a 5.8. Not sure how I feel about that.

Bigger is better right?

Sometimes, when it comes to mileage and already having a replacement engine. Then its 50/50

Shaolin Crane 01-13-2012 01:54 PM

New plan, Shawn has some .030 pistons for me with the large valve reliefs. So since the heads are near new no work there.
$120 for machining and cam bearings
He was kind enough to give me free pistons
$99 gasket set.
$50 intake porting
$50 Mustang cam
400hp for under $500

Save forged shortblock for mustang

Jammer89 01-13-2012 04:32 PM

400 hp?

Ron just left, huge thanks to him for going with me. Drive didnt seem nearly as bad with someone to listen to me jabber the whole way. Starting on repairs now.
