Cars & Coffee, Irvine, 06-19-2010?

Anybody up for the Cars & Coffee cruise in Irvine this coming Saturday, 06-19-2010?
I am planning on being there with a few '04-'07 (V1's) Cad CTS-V's & '09 & up (V2's) Cad CTS-V's & a few turbo Buicks. Anybody & everybody welcome. Look for me in a thunder grey '09 Cad CTS-V. Drop by and say "Hi" if you're there.

Gary Wells 06-13-2010 06:47 PM

OK, who on board here owns the black '04-'07 Cad CTS-V (V1) that was on the cruise the other day (yesterday?)?

Gary Wells 06-13-2010 06:52 PM

OK, who on board here owns the silver / platinum '04-'07 Cad CTS-V (V1) that was on the cruise the other day (yesterday?)?

SeanPlunk 06-13-2010 11:25 PM

Hey Gary - how are you?

Sean:
Fine, alive and breathing, which is all that I expect for at my age. Does your brother still have my old turbo Buick? If so, I found the other license plate and I will bring it when I make your next cruise. Nice looking CTS-V & STS-V.

jedhead 06-14-2010 01:45 AM

I will be there Saturday morning with STS-V

Bob

Gary Wells 06-14-2010 02:16 AM

Bob:
Looking forward to meeting you & checking out your '06 STS-V. Beautiful car. Should be a couple of Cad forum peeps there also, and maybe a few turbo Buick peeps off of TB.Com SouthWestern Section.

blackax 06-14-2010 10:12 AM

I would love to come but my car will still be in the shop till early next week i think

He does still have it. With school and what not he hasn't been working on it as much, but he's done for the summer and should be able to now :D

I believe that there are at least a few peeps coming form the Cad forum & hopefully a few from here, I will have my '09CTS-V, a buddy of mine will have a 510 RWHP & 525 RWTQ '87 GN. Should be a good showing. Sorry that yours won't be out of the shop by this Sat. D3 from Signal Hill might be there. Coming and looking at everybody else's is not as much fun, huh?

Gary Wells 06-15-2010 05:35 PM

Damian:

Damian 06-15-2010 10:33 PM

Damian 06-18-2010 10:44 PM

I'll see you in the AM, I'll be in the silver GTO.

Gary Wells 06-19-2010 12:08 PM

This was a great show, about 6 or 7 total Cad CTS-V's, both V1 & V2, several STS-V's, and 2 turbo Buicks. Bob (jedhead) and a friend of his was there with his STS-V, James (D3 in Signal Hills was there with a blown CTS, & Bob, a customer of D3's from Arizona, 2 friends with Buick GNs. Great show and thanks for coming.

Damian 06-19-2010 10:12 PM

There was quite a few CTS-Vs there his time. I drooled over the Buicks.

Gary Wells 06-20-2010 05:41 AM

Damien:
Sorry, I didn't even know that you were there. Stop by and say "Hi' next time.
Both of the Bucik GN were bros of mine from TurboBuick.Com. The 1st belongs to Rafael, who had his son with him. I do not know the specifics on his car. The 2nd one there belongs to TB.Com user name "SPOOLFOOL2", or Mike. Mike has done practically all of the tuning on my '87 Buick Turbo-T which ran 12.7 on true street tires at Fontana when we dialed in the AlkyControl methanol injection kit. Mike's super clean '87 GN lays down about 508 RWHP & 516 RWTQ on a Dynajet dyno, ran 10.87 on it's 1st outing at Fontana, and is dialed down to about 11.00 in street trim. Hopefully we can do this again and have a few more GNs there. FWIW, Mike's Calif license plate reads "UR LUNCH", and it definitely holds true to its name.

Gary Wells 06-20-2010 08:41 AM

Damien:
I don't know how late that you were there, but the 2nd GN that showed up that was parked across from my '09 thunder grey was wearing true prototype billet aluminum "GN replica" rims made for Mike by Alan Budnick of "Budnick wheels". Those are truly the only set so far in the world & shaved the weight of each rim about 17 lbs., I believe. You have to look close, but those are true billet aluminum rims made to look like real GN steel rims.

Damian 06-20-2010 10:45 AM

The one I saw pull in had that "UR LUNCH" plates.

Gary Wells 06-20-2010 12:08 PM

I have actually seen him haze the rear tires at 65 MPH. That is probably about a 10.4-10.5 car when fully tuned for the strip. I think at the strip he runs about 23 lbs or so of boost.

Gary Wells 06-22-2010 03:03 AM

For those that are interested, here's the story behind the wheels and pictures of.

jedhead 06-28-2010 09:35 AM

It was great to meet you Gary at the show.

Bob

Gary Wells 06-28-2010 09:59 AM

Bob:
It was great to meet you also, and putting a face to a name is always good. I'm always open to meeting you there or Donut Derelicts. Just let me know in advance. I was there this last Sat with my turbo Buick and it was great. No other turbo Buicks there, so mine got lots of attention. Anytine that you want to go & hook-up, let me know.

jedhead 06-30-2010 05:51 PM

I got my STS-V tuned finally. I didn't get much more power that the Wait4Me tune that was on my PCM, but the new tune doesn't lean the engine as much and doesn't pull any spark. The Wait4Me tune did both, but in fairness I believe the Wait4Me tune was more aggressive because the gas is better in the midwest where the PCM came from. The car feels much more powerful than stock and shifts are quicker and firmer especially in manual mode.

Damian 06-30-2010 06:16 PM

Gotta love that instant torque trona s/c.

I'm thinking I might go this weekend again.

jedhead 06-30-2010 06:24 PM

I love the low rpm tq too. I was talking to the tuner and he is really enthusiastic about E85 gas. The higher knock resistance can lead to higher boost and more timing with out the knock. Larger injectors will be required, but the HP will be there. He has a blown S2000 putting down 400hp on E85.

Bob

Damian 06-30-2010 06:42 PM

If you tune for E85, you'll never look back. When I get my v6 Eclipse turboed this week, I'll be switching to E85 and possibly be around 320-350whp. I loved it when I was n/a with it.

jedhead 06-30-2010 11:59 PM

My reservation about E85 is two fold.
1. Availability to get E85 is still difficult
2. The combination of prodigious thirst for fuel and small gas tank will prevent me from making trips over 150 between fuel ups.

Bob

Damian 07-01-2010 12:22 AM

At least there is an E85 station by my work.

Gary Wells 07-01-2010 02:37 AM

I've got that base covered when I get around to having my 1st, and hopefully only set of mods done to the '09 CTS-V. I have a brand new still in the box AlkyControl alky-meth kit for the install. I run the same kit with straight methanol and 22 lbs of boost on my '87 TurboBuick and simply love it. Best thing since popcorn or bread. What shop did your tuning, Bob?
Bob: you going this weekend?
Damien: You going this weekend?
I'm thinking of taking the turbobrick to either Donut Derelicts or the Cars & Coffee this Sat morning.

jedhead 07-01-2010 05:11 AM

Gary: I will out of town this weekend. Church Automotive did the tune. He was very knowledgeable about the STS-V.

Bob

Gary Wells 07-01-2010 07:23 AM

Church Automotive Testing is one of the best.

Damian 07-01-2010 09:03 AM

My other car club is having an install meet at my house at 9am, so I'm thinking of going to c&c to start the morning off with some supercars (hopefully).

Gary Wells 07-01-2010 10:00 AM

If you go, ldrop by and say Hi I should be there.

jedhead 07-01-2010 09:57 PM

I plan on being at the Doughnut Derelicts on Saturday morning July 10th. I will see you then if you can attend.

Bob

Damian 07-02-2010 12:32 AM

I won't be going this weekend. My ignition cylinder locked up for the 2nd time today and is at the dealership again. So I highly doubt it will be done this week.

Bob:
I'll plan on seeing you there. Probably about time to get the Caddy out by then. I generally get there about 6:15 or so and I generally park over by that Salvation Army sign that sticks up about 20 ft or so in the air.
