whats up from the East Coast...
Hey guys.. i havent posted on here in a long time.. been really busy with the job, move and getting t he girlfriend to move from LA to here.. anyway, some updates on the Mustang..
went racing last night (seecond time this season) after installing a relocation kit for my lower control arms to help with my 60ft.. it did drop it from my normal 1.95's down to 1.85's on all 7 runs, but the track was stall way cold. hopefully i can get up there on a Saturday when they VHT the complete track.. All most a 11 but still not.. the car has a custom sub box installed plus a fat a$$ driver (230lbs weight lol) still cant complain to much for having about 1500 bucks into the car :) |
Nice pass. What tire were you running.
|
275 60 15 MT.. thanks
|
I fucking love it. Give us the rune down on the mods? What gear do you have in the diff? What mods? I am super interested because I want to start modding my 2013 GT.
|
Along with Carlos's questions, what track were the runs made at?
|
thanks guys.. she's a 2012 GT prim with leather and Auto trans.. the only weight drop i have done is the RTS rims which are 17x4 up front and 15x10's on the back.. Mods are 373 gears, Cold Air Intake, off raod H pipe, GT500 muffs, UPR uppper and lower control arms and an ajustable panhard bar. Ford K springs and a TUNE from my friend Greg from RET in Los Angeles. the car dynoed at 388rwhp and 379tq..
i drive the car a lot so i have a aftermarket radio system (8 speakers and 2 subs) with about 1500 watts and two 12in subs in a custom made box. i moved to the East Coast this pass July back home to Maryland. Over here we have TONS of tracks, so this was from a local track that is about 25 miles away (Cecil County Raceway).. my next mods are going to be Long Tube headers and a Converter. this should get the car into the low 11's.. |
That is a lot of MPH for 388rwhp. Does the panhardbar do anything for launching the car? I always thought they were great at positively locating the axle side to side. Are the k springs softer?
How are you liking Maryland? I grew up in PG County:crutches: (Hyatsville) |
Cecil County Raceway is at 320ft. elevation.
|
after dropping that car 2.5 inches with the springs the rear was way out. so i had to get the bar to pull it back in, thats all its used for.. No the K springs are about the same feel as the stock one but you are way lower lol. the LCA relocation kit help bring the arms from going UP to back down like it should be..
the hard shifts hard and i think if i get it a little softer on the shifts i should be able to pick up another 1 or 2 mph.. |

It does nothing but positively locate the axle side to side. The real question which was answered was "why the aftermarket panhard bar?" The question was worded that way not to be rude and also due to the realization that NO ONE knows everything. |

I hear that look is the latest rage in Japan.

He already answered why to the aftermarket and I answered your first question. Pretty simple stuff here, lets not turn this into stangnet. |
got my 11 sec slip..
|
Congrats.
|
Nice, for having relatively few mods to be in the 11s is awesome. I have about the same mods comparatively and still am in the 13s.

just did a weight loss program on the front end of the mustang.. havent been to the track yet.
|
also adjusted the controls a little bit more. |
You ditched the sway bar?? You only want to drag with that thing Im guessing?

Where did you have that control arm before? The middle hole? |

Below is the best explanation I have seen for the proper adjustment of our lower control arms:

Thanks for sharing that explanation. I found it very helpful.
|
I understood the squatting explanation, and it makes sense that control arms will cause the suspension to compress more slowly, but I dont understand the geometry behind it.
For a drag car do you want longer or shorter control arms? Or is it not that simple? |
Not that simple.
|
did another new best time..car went 11.89 at 118mph.. 60ft times are still soft at 1.82..i'm thinking thats going to be it for my 60fts until i get a stall convertor in the car.. photo below is of that best ET and 60ft time..

they are set in the middle.. i dont think the lowe hole would be right for a auto car.. all the stick cars use the bottom hole because of the clutch dropping launches..
|
next round of upgrades coming soon :)
|
1pc alum driveshaft and safety loop order : Check
Circle D 3c 3500-3700 stall converter order: Check Boss Intake and throttle body order: Look for a used one right now.. hoping to get about 2 tenths out of the driveshaft and about 4 tenths out of the converter.. that SHOULD get me into 11.2's or so.. then if i can get a intake that should push me to 10's.. we will see :) |
You have to cage-up at that track at < 11.5?
|
i have 8 1/4 tracks i can run at within driving distance.. if one kicks me out i'll just drive to the others lol..
