375 ft lbs of torque and 25 mpg
Oh yeah, put a deposit down today. If all goes smoothly I will have my cake and eat it too. (That is, having a vehicle that gets good gas mileage, and can tow.) Also, it's sexy too.
Anyone want to take a guess what it is before I post pics? Second clue, I posted it in the 4x4 section. |
Jeep Grand Cherokee Diesel. What do I win?
|
Nothing, you didn't guess the year or the color. Loser.
2007 4x4 Limited slip front rear, and center diff. Won't get stuck. Plan to lift it modestly with some 35s or 33s eventually. Report has it that it's geared way too high anyways, so bigger tires should be fine with stock gears. |
Sounds nice:
In Europe, South America, South Africa and Australia, a V6 CRD engine produced by Mercedes-Benz was available from introduction in 2005: OM642 3.0 L CRD V6 Turbo Diesel with Variable geometry turbocharger (VGT). It produces 215 horsepower (160 kW; 218 PS) and 376 lb·ft (510 N·m) of torque at 1,600 to 2,800 rpm at a fuel consumption of 17 city and 22 highway. In North America and elsewhere this 3.0 L V6 CRD was available for 2007-2008 model years. It includes a diesel particulate filter to reduce exhaust emissions. It was not however available for sale in California or certain Northeast states, due to new stricter emissions regulations for non-commercial vehicles. Vehicles could be bought used in California and Northeast states, as the regulations only applied to new vehicles. This engine is also used in the Mercedes-Benz ML320. |
Really nice, congrats dude!

How many miles?

i recognize that temp tag....Texas?

Yup Texas.
22mpg is not accurate. I've read they can do as good as 28 on the freeway, as bad as 12 if you have a heavy foot. 20/25 seems to be a fair estimate. But either way it's still better than an STI, including the more expensive fuel. 90K... Higher than I'd like to admit, but it was the only way I'd get a 4 wheel drive Diesel unit in my price range. Besides, it's a Mercedes Diesel and it should last forever. There is a Mercedes Diesel million mile club. :D |
I was also thinking about maybe getting some SRT8 body panels for it. I love the way those look.
|
Silver is my second least favorite available color :/ But at least it's not beige. If anyone in here has a beige car and they were offended by that... good.
|
Also I read the other day that it's an aluminum block, which was really surprising to me because I've always thought of Diesels as being especially heavy.
|
I think it'll be perfect for what you're using it for. How do the transmissions hold up?
|
Yep. tranny is fixed, got my new big shoes out back, should be a good time!

Transmissions are stout. Some have reported to have a water seapage issue around the dipstick, which can contaminate the trans fluid and cause shuttering at high speeds. Fix is: silicone around the dipstick tube and a trans service, I think I could handle that if I eventually have that problem. |
When are you picking it up?
|
Diesel is the way to go, since the tune and toys to my beast im averaging 20 city 24 highway 1200ftlbs is nice too :)
|
Those Srt8's look nice i will say. You can't go wrong with Diesel except those assholes raising the price of fuel for us.

You can make your station on the relatively cheap. Or go gucci. |
Holy Crap Shaolin, I want to see a video of that beast in action.
Plunker, I'm getting it shipped. I was going to fly out there and bring it back originally, figured it would cost $350 to do it that way, and it would cost about $750 to ship it. But when I made the guy an offer, he came back with a counter offer at $500 higher, and I told him I could only afford that if he paid to ship it here (which is true) and he agreed. He probably gets a sweet deal on shipping. How long did it take to ship your black Cobra out here? |

I have trap speeds currently for 12's, and my calculator says in the ballpark of 700-750hp at the flywheel. When i get a detroit and slicks i assume i can even gain a few mph and get my et's into the mid 12's( i have friend with the same mods running 12.7-12.8's with 35" Tires and a leveling kit.) |
I can't believe you're averaging higher than 20, do you switch to a tune that makes it more fuel efficient than stock?

If i drive normal, mileage drops, but if i drive conservatively i get great mileage. |
