If you could have any one car...

What would it be and why? The rules are that you can't sell it and it's yours forever. The car has to be street legal in the United States

My choice would be the McLaren F1 LM. I feel like it's the most pure supercar every built and beautiful too.

94cobra69ss396 12-01-2008 07:40 PM

I would have a Saleen S7 twin turbo in blue.

My wife would have a Ford GT with the Heritage paint scheme.

SeanPlunk 12-01-2008 07:47 PM

Your image got hosed Ron, I hope that's the same color. Solid choices by the way. I think Sonic03SVT would choose the exact same car as your wife.

Sean.. can it be a modified car? Oh and the one I want isn't street legal until after about 30k of work... is that still cool? As long as it can be made streetable right?

He's still trying to figure out how to make a top fuel dragster street legal.

I tried to do the same thing with an F1 car:D

I can get close:

Caparo T1 - my 2nd choice. It's only street legal in Europe though I think.

Solid choice, but for some reason I always think of the Mosler as a kit car :sm_up_there: I don't know why, I've seen one in person and it's nice

I like that choice too.

enkeivette 12-01-2008 10:52 PM

It is more of a kit car, but it's not technically because it's a DOT approved 'production' vehicle.

The interior is not refined. Not comfortable, I wouldn't want to drive it cross country. Unless I was on a gumball rally.

Damn straight. I'd go with silver or black and not the raw CF look

This is my favorite car. The Be All End All. Not as pricy as a Bughatti or anything of that nature... but it'll take about 30k to make it USA Legal by spec.

1999 Nissan Skyline GT-R

Uh Oh... remembered one more. Hope i never have to pick...

1969 Camaro SS

Audi R8 V10.

It's not the fastest on the planet, but it has daily street ability, great looks, and plenty of power. It's a modest choice, in comparison to those in this thread, but given the criteria (can never sell it, etc), it's my top pick. :)

Excellent choice, I think you could drive one of those everyday quite comfortably. I'm pretty sure you couldn't say the same thing about cars like this:

Although I'd be willing to try.....

lol... so would I. I'd be in the supermarket parking lot with 2 bags of groceries, wondering where to stuff them. :)

If I can't get one of these ^ , I'll have to purchase this guys Pantera if/when he dies (I don't think he will ever sell it himself):

Interesting car. I've seen one in person though and somehow it didn't do much for me. Don't get me wrong, I'd drive it, but it just wasn't that distinctive.

xENo 03-16-2009 11:51 PM

I'd consider an aston martin V8 Vantage or porsche GT as well...

Mmm. Cars.

Yeah, the LF-A is pretty damn impressive. Sadly I don't think they're ever going to produce it :o

Stupid economy

The sad part isn't so much their ability to produce, or to sell it (some luxury makes like Rolls Royce are at all time highs). . . it's the perception. We live in such a stupid world. . .

Anywho, the first time I saw this it was VERY ho-hum. The basic lines were there, but no finesse . . . no art. It's looking damn good, just in time to be relegated to the pages of what if. :(

A 33 Cord would be VERY cool.

Sonic03SVT 03-22-2009 12:07 AM

Funny. My brother in law has a Cord. Well...after a fashion. Seems his father was restoring an "old car" and then when he passed, nobody in the family knew what to do with it. When i went out there to visit, he knew i was a car guy, and showed me his "old car". Its a mid 30s cord, as it happens. Still sitting there, id say its 85% there, just mostly disassembled. They just dont know what to do with it or how to put it back together. This summer ill mess with it a bit, ill try to dig up some pictures for you folks.

And to answer the question. Heritage paint Ford GT + whipple, unless someone wants to let me drive an actual GT40 MK1, ill take chassis 1075 please.

I'm bringing this one back up from the grave - did you ever see that Cord again?
