What was the first car you bought?

Mine was a 1994 Ford Mustang GT (white). I think I paid $6500 for it

It looked kind of like this:

I learned to drive on a 1991 manual Honda Accord though

The first car I actually paid for was a 64 Fairlane. The first car I bought off a lot was a 64 Vette:laugh:. The first new car I bought was Car and Driver's best bang for the buck---90 Mustang 5.0 LX.:drink:

First car I owned, 77 Toyota corolla 2 door , 1200cc .500 bucks from a used car lot

Leedom 08-31-2009 02:28 PM

My first car was a New '94 Ranger 4-banger that my mom financed and I paid most of the payment on when I was in HS.

The truck stickered at $10K and we drove it off the lot for $8,300. The first car I personally bought on my own was a 99 F-150 which I still have. I drove that off the lot for about $18,500 in 2001.

(I will post pic later as I just found a pic of the Ranger when I moved.)

The first car I bought was my 1969 Chevelle SS393 which I still have and paid $450 for. My first and only brand new car I bought was a 1990 Mustang GT but I don't remember what I paid for it. My first used car I bought from a dealer was a 1994 Thunderbird V8. I bought it for Amy and then took her Toyota 4x4 for my offroad toy.

Actually had to think about this. The first car I bought completely for myself was actually the Vette at age 30. Other than that I had either inherited cars temporarily, but mostly drove my Jeep from age 17 - 30.

The next will be a Ford GT . . . as soon as that blinking light in Sean's beater, uh never mind. :smack:

First car I bought with my money was a 1990 Toyota Supra turbo. Drove it home after laying down $300 bucks.

SeanPlunk 08-31-2009 06:33 PM

I remember when I was looking for my Mustang it was January of 2000. The newer body style was out, but the GT's were too expensive for me. I almost bought a 1999 V6 that some kid had dressed up to look like a Cobra :bang:

My friend Jeff (Jeep) told me that was a major car party foul and made me by the 94 GT instead. What a good friend :drink:

joedls 08-31-2009 08:51 PM

My first car was a 1970 Chevelle SS 396. I paid $250 for it in 1976. It didn't run. The engine was seized. By the time I had a license, my buddies and I had it running.

BADDASSC6 08-31-2009 09:43 PM

Fist car was a 1985 Monte Carlo SS:thumbs_up:
Second car was a 1994 Geo Prizm. It is also the only car I've ever owned that wasn't a RWD american v8.

The first vehicle I owned was a Kawasaki 305 cruiser style. Got my first ticket on it too. I found out today my Ca driver Lic is suspened because of that ticket I got in 1985. ...In Arizona..... And being 18 yr old with no money I did not pay it. 25 yrs later it is coming back to haunt me. o :censored::censored::censored:
I paid my mail in renewal in June. today I thought...MMMMMM, I never got my new lic. Went to DMV and the music started when I walked in...
I'm a cowboy, on a steel horse I riiiide... WAAAANTTEDDD...dead or ALIIIIIIIIVE !!!
They will not renew me until I take care of it. Modern technology is linking all States to collect past penalties. :judge::judge:
And because my job involves driving customer cars, My boss ain't to happy.

Wow, that's crazy. How much do they want to take care of it?

All that over a 10 buck clearance charge. The ticket's statute of limitations expired in 1992. :smack:

You're lucky. My buddy had that happen to him when he was around 22 or so. He got a ticket when he was 17 that his mom was taking care of but she never paid it. He went to court to try and take care of it and they told him that he had to pay $500 and something dollars or do jail time. He didn't have the money so they put him in jail. He called me with his one call and I went and paid it for him to get him out.

Definitely! I was actually just talking to him about Jeeps. I think you've given me the off road bug. When my beater car dies I'm considering picking up a used Wrangler...

First car i bought, was a Red 1989 Mustang GT, blew that motor up, inherited a few cars, bought a 2001 Honda Prelude, realized that it had no torque or hp, then got the Stang back and built it up :)

Damian 09-01-2009 08:34 PM

My first car I bought as a 1990 S-10 Blazer 2 door, 2wd, 4.3L V6. Bought it whe I was 14, and did a lot of work to it by the time I was 16. Shaved door handles, painted it Black Cherry, limo tint, lowered, new wheels, tires, huge stereo, exhaust, everything. Sad part is, I cant find one picture of it anywhere, sad too because I really miss that truck. I used to take it to stereo competitions and what not, park in the parking lot and I always had people taking pictures of it. But being 16/17 in a hot truck like that, I got too many tickets and too many sets of tires (burnous), I had to get rid of it. That truck is the reason I want a Typhoon so damn bad.

1997 Pontiac Grand Prix GT, Red
I drove it until January of 2007 when the engine died. 249,000 miles - enough to get to the moon!

I bought a 1988 Mustang GT with an AOD back before I had the Cobra. When I bought it it had 189,000 miles and was comletely stock. I took it to LACR before I did anything to it and it ran a 15.89 at 87. That is what the magazines were reporting it ran when new. I didn't do much to it besides CAI, an offroad H-pipe, 3.55 gears and a new trans with a 2500 stall converter but it was a fun car. I sold it to a friend just before I bought the Cobra and it had over 250,000 miles on it. He drove it for a couple years without making any upgrades and then sold it with almost 280,000 miles on it and it still ran great. He did have to change the torque converter though because it went bad but that's all besides oil changes.

Most of it left my house after E-Bay auctions, some of it is still scattered about in my garage.
