October 23rd Ortega Highway/Tommy's Burgers Run

EDIT: Vettezuki

Here's a little video of a fly by and walk around. Someday I'll get this right.

Here's some in car video from Leedom. Not a lot of action but a little flavor of what the run looks like at the beginning.

A vdi from Redono Jon.

Here's the album.

Here's a couple selected photos.

Have to say the Challenger is the best of the retro stylings.

Love that Subie blue.

YES!

This Nismo is a beautiful car. I'd like to drive one someday.

The General

================
OP
It's time for another cruise everyone. Here's the plan:

Meet at the shopping center in San Juan Capistrano at 4:15p.m. Use the address below as a reference:

27324 Ortega Hwy
San Juan Capistrano, CA 92675

We will depart for Ortega Hwy at 4:45p.m. We're going all the way though and then stopping at the grocery store directly at the end of Ortega. The address for the store is:

15887 Grand Ave
Lake Elsinore, CA 92530

We should arrive at the store right around 5:15p.m. if anyone wants to meet us on the Lake Elsinore side. At 5:45p.m. we'll depart from the store and head back through Ortega again. The sun is going to set at 6:08, so it should be twilight and a really nice drive. Once we get back through Ortega we're going to hop on the 5 North and head to El Toro Road. There is a Tommy's Burgers right off the freeway that we can eat at. I've never been to one before, but I've heard great things. With any luck (assuming we run on time for once), we should hit the restaurant right about 6:30-45ish.

It should be a great time and Ortega is a great drive. I know there is a UFC fight that night, and it starts at 7. Anyone that wants to just bug out after the cruise to go watch the fight is of course welcome to do so. Lesnar is going to smash Cain for the record ;)

Here is the full route.

See you all the 23rd :drink:

Asrtive 10-15-2010 03:45 PM

Man i live right off ortega but not sure what time i will be back in town? If anything i could meet at Tommy burgers then go to the fight at Lampost in Mv La Paz. Lesnar is too much for Cain

Definitely. Cain is just too small IMHO to hang with Brock.

Chuck 10-15-2010 10:41 PM

Brock and I say Fuds in place of Tommy's. Tommy's is D grade at best.

We are talking about a high speed run, through the mountains, with rock walls on one side, sheer drop off on the other, and your worried about a "D" grade burger ??:jester::jester::jester:

We do Fudds all the time, and they aren't that great either. 8 bucks for a burger you make yourself:bang: It is a nicer place with better parking though.

Redondo Jon 10-16-2010 01:53 PM

Well since you guys mentioned it, Fudds please.

Asrtive 10-16-2010 02:01 PM

But we can do burn outs at the Tommys parking lot.

Redondo Jon 10-16-2010 02:14 PM

Burn-outs; what’s a burn-out? I don’t know what you’re talking about, it wasn’t me, I wasn’t even here...

Shaolin Crane 10-16-2010 10:07 PM

how about hooters? the fight will be on there

Shaolin Crane 10-20-2010 03:16 PM

I was thinking the same thing, but the forecast says it’ll be okay for us. I’m wondering about the condition of the road; rocks, dirt, and other debris.

Shaolin Crane 10-20-2010 04:10 PM

Yeah im not down for a wet canyon run

Sticking to the original plan and checking out Tommy's. Adam has been busy but should be along :)

I missed your last cruise. I am going to try to make this one as is another fellow Challenger owner (providing you don't mind us tagging along). I may drop off after we reach the store on the other side to go have dinner with my daughter who lives out that way. Playing it by ear at the moment.

Asrtive 10-21-2010 12:49 PM

I think the road will be fine and it sounds like a fun cruise, i'm in..

All cars welcome all the time. It's what we're about.

This is really tempting for me to attend. I was also invited for a cruise in southern SD... I'm not sure right now which to go on. I'm leaning for this one because I live closer and will be back in time to watch Lesnar beat Cain. This will also be my first cruise from this forum...

Hey guys had a killer time with y'all tonight. It was a fun cruise with a huge variety of cars, which is always cool. I was in the 04 Scooby wagon, 3rd from the front with the wife riding shotgun. Hope to everyone out again soon.

Vettezuki 10-24-2010 05:46 AM

It was nice to see some new cars and faces out there. Wish I could have made it to Tommy's at the end but my normally pretty awesome V8 decided to be highly not awesome V7 . . maybe a V6.5. I'll have some pics and videos within a day or so.

Vettezuki 10-24-2010 07:19 AM

See OP for some pics. Working on Video.
