Tint Day

Alright guys, I'm going to try to set up a tint day in March.

So far the list would be:
1. Me (Cobra)
2. Leedom (Mach 1)
3. Jake (11 5.0 Mustang)
4. and 5. Two friends from work. A Honda Accord coupe and a Honda civic.
6) Sonic03SVT (01 Corvette Z06)
7) Ron (95 Cobra)
8) 1badWS6 (SRT8 Charger)
9) 89StangGuy (SVO Mustang)
10) bluegoat06 (09 Pontiac G8 GT)
11) Shaolin Crane (F350)

Who else would be interested? I want to get a head count so I can hit up a tint shop to see what kind of deal they give us. I'm thinking maybe XlntTint in Anaheim. K1 racing is right down the street, so we could do that while we're waiting, or go to Blake's place and have some awesome BBQ. Who might be in?

Sonic03SVT 01-13-2011 08:38 PM

im in. need to get this old 5% stuff off and some new 20% or so on

Added. Do you want a name change? Oh, and why does Jerry feel the need to copy you all the time ;)

Type of films offered?

Hi Sean, thanks for the set up on this group buy, and may I inquire if ceramic film is an option? Also, would or could a ding-dent tech be in the adjacent area as the tint tech?

Thanks and take care.

1BadWS6 01-14-2011 09:14 AM

Sounds good to me, Ive been needing to get tint so count me in

89StangGuy 01-14-2011 09:37 AM

I should have my SVO back by february. Not sure if i should get it painted first before i get tint though? Or does it matter? I live in Anaheim and i know the place.

bluegoat06 01-14-2011 11:08 AM

Sean, what date in March do you have in mind ?
I don't have tint yet, and i was thinking to have dark limo in the rear windows, and something legal in the front driver/passenger windows.

Fyi: no front window tint is legal. I know 2 tickets for it in the last 6 months.
:surrender: :bang:

Sonic03SVT 01-15-2011 05:19 PM

While I agree fox mustangs rule, im not so sure that one makes any sense either.

Sorry for the lack of replies everyone, my brother in law got married Friday and I was the best man. It's been a long weekend of hanging with all the out of town family after that. I'm thinking maybe Saturday, March 5th.

SeanPlunk 01-17-2011 09:38 PM

I just emailed xlnttint to get pricing for interested parties so far, and to check dates out. I'm also interested in seeing how many cars they can handle in a day. I'll let everyone know as soon as I hear.

SeanPlunk 01-18-2011 10:00 PM

I heard back from xlnttint. I'm waiting on confirmation of something and I'll post everything up tomorrow.

SeanPlunk 01-19-2011 10:25 AM

This is what xlnttint is offering up:

Ceramic film: 2dr $440.00 - 4dr $460.00
Carbon film: 2dr $170.00 - 4dr $185.00
Metallic film: 2dr $135.00 – 4dr $150.00
NonMetallic film: 2dr $135.00 – 4dr $150.00

Basically they're giving us $35 off the Ceramic, Carbon, or Metallic Film. The non-metallic is regular price. The prices above are what it would be with the discount.

Also, the maximum cars they could handle in a day is 10. Thoughts? I haven't done tint in a while, are those prices okay or should I keep looking?

SeanPlunk 01-19-2011 12:26 PM

Anybody?

Shaolin Crane 01-19-2011 06:55 PM

Thats a bit high, my dude offered to do my truck in lumar for 135, maybe i could talk to him?

Kozak 01-20-2011 02:38 AM

I paid under a hundred for my car...I think, lemme get back to you on that

Leedom 01-20-2011 05:33 PM

I just got off the Phone with Signature Glass Tinting in Costa Mesa and the costs are as follows:

1. Sean (Cobra) $185
2. Leedom (Mach 1) $185
3. Jake (11 5.0 Mustang) $185
4. and 5. Two friends from work. A Honda Accord coupe and a Honda civic.
$185 to $190 (Possibly more depending on the molding)
6) Sonic03SVT (01 Corvette Z06) $200
7) Ron (95 Cobra) $190
8) 1badWS6 (SRT8 Charger) $190
9) 89StangGuy (SVO Mustang) $195 (possibly more depending on the molding)
10) bluegoat06 (09 Pontiac G8 GT) $190
11) Shaolin Crane (F350) $185

Their warranty is lifetime regardless of whether you damaged it or not. These prices are all with Llumar ATC Film. They can handle 11 cars in 1 day but not many more. If we do end up with more then maybe we can split this up into 2 days.

Shaolin Crane 01-20-2011 05:56 PM

I called my dude, i'm waiting to hear back on the prices

94cobra69ss396 01-20-2011 07:50 PM

Yeah, $190 seems a little steep just to tint one window.

Shaolin Crane 01-20-2011 07:58 PM

Since I am rather lazy, how many windows does each vehicle have so my dude can price them out.

Leedom 01-20-2011 08:35 PM

The tint prices were for all windows except the windshield. One window would be cheaper.

Shaolin Crane 02-05-2011 04:02 PM

Ok i went and talked to executive auto tint here in covina, they use llumar solar guard tint and the prices are as follows
1. Me (Cobra) $100
2. Leedom (Mach 1) $100
3. Jake (11 5.0 Mustang) $100
4. and 5. Two friends from work. A Honda Accord coupe and a Honda civic. $120 ea
6) Sonic03SVT (01 Corvette Z06) $100
7) Ron (95 Cobra) $80 for tint removal and replacement
8) 1badWS6 (SRT8 Charger) $120
9) 89StangGuy (SVO Mustang) $100
10) bluegoat06 (09 Pontiac G8 GT) $120

Very solid. Do they have any kind of warranty? Also, can they do that many vehicles in a day?

Shaolin Crane 02-06-2011 11:38 PM

He said the number of vehicles wasnt a problem. I'll ask about the warranty but i would assume its the same as any other tint place, i know they have been there for over 15 years

94cobra69ss396 02-07-2011 08:27 AM

This sounds good to me. Let me know when we have it scheduled.

Shaolin Crane 02-07-2011 08:44 AM

My vote is either march 12th(iffy with an anniversary meet for another club) Or April 2nd
Lets hear what the masses say

94cobra69ss396 02-07-2011 09:00 AM

Either works for me.

Shaolin Crane 02-07-2011 11:33 AM

Well marth 5th is another anniversary meet for a different club, and that day i DEF cannot make it

09sscalicobalt 02-07-2011 09:21 PM

david needs to jump on this and get his new evo rid of the fishbowl look haha

Shaolin Crane 02-07-2011 11:35 PM

I'm not sure if any more cars could be fit in

Shaolin Crane 02-08-2011 09:59 AM

So whats the consensus for the date?

89StangGuy 02-08-2011 11:56 AM

I'm down with April!

SeanPlunk 02-21-2011 09:21 PM

Okay, let's make a decision. I may just go with the original xlnt tint plan and get my car done on March 5th. I got a promotion and I'm going to have to start working some Saturdays starting March 26th. I'm not sure when I'll have another chance. How many of you would be interested in doing the Xlnt Tint thing on the 5th?
