Angeles Crest Drive, Sunday 1/25/15

To anyone interested, a group of us will be taking a drive up Angeles Crest to Newcomb Ranch this Sunday morning. We're gonna grab some grub there, watch the last hour or so of the 24hrs of Daytona and hopefully see a C7.R win. I'm gonna call ahead and see if they can put it on the TV for us. Either way it should be a fun drive. Anyone is welcomed to join us. We'll be meeting at 830-845am at the parking structure next to the Shell gas station and Panera Bread off the Angeles Crest exit and the 210fwy in La Cañada Flintridge. Rolling out by 9am.

I've got a meeting that morning, but it sounds like a hoot.

Shaolin Crane 01-21-2015 10:32 PM

I finish my tune that saturday, so I might be in as long as nothing breaks.

Redondo Jon 01-22-2015 05:59 PM

Sounds like fun. Count me in.

Damn the bad luck, spent this afternoon in the urgent care getting a four inch gash on the back of my right ankle stitched up, probably shouldn't be gettin' real happy with the throttle action for at least a week.

Sucks you couldnt join us man. At least its an easy fix. Every hotrod has its bugs. Hopefully its running perfect on the next one.

C5Natie 01-25-2015 09:28 PM

It was a beautiful day for a drive up ACH. Had a blast driving up there. It was really cool to see new and old faces. A few left early and others arrived a bit late but it was all good. After getting some lunch and watching the Corvette C7R's kick some ass, myself and a buddy took Big Tujunga/Angeles Forest/Upper Tujunga back down. All the roads were open, clean and beautiful. Hope to see more of you on the next one.

Couple guys left before I took some pics. Should have my gopro on the next one.

C5Natie 01-25-2015 09:38 PM

So far it's not fixed, I tried rerouting the fuel lines and it finally started after dying on the drive back. I think either the tank vent is stuck, or that it's too full of fuel to allow the air to vent from the lines after I removed them. Tomorrow i'll drain the tank in an attempt to purge the lines. Then again the boiling fuel could have ruined the FPR so i'm gonna replace that too.

Yeah thats why I mentioned the vent. Ive seen a few fuel pumps get burned up from the tank not being able to vent properly. It sounded good though when it was running.

Must have been a gorgeous day up there. I'm fix'n to take my Vette to get it back to better running condition this week.

It was beautiful day up there man. Perfect really for driving and the roads were pretty clean, not too many rocks. Hopefully you make the next one. I'll be posting another one up soon.

I wish I would have seen this, I would have gone. My in laws were down so I had babysitters!

Redondo Jon 01-26-2015 06:08 PM

Thanks again Natie for setting this up. Nice get together (except for Guy showing up) :sm_laughing: Seriously though your car’s looking good & once that fuel glitch is fixed, it’s gonna be great. The drive up was good save a couple of people who took too long to move over but whatever. I had to leave early to attend to my broken / leaking washing machine and ended up being an R/A unit for a crashed motorcyclist. The drive back was empty until I rounded one of the corners and then suddenly, there’s two guys standing in the middle of the road trying to “right” the bike. The guy who crashed was limping very badly & asked me for a ride back to the Shell station. Hey, I rode for 20 plus years so of course I said yes. The whole way back I kept reminding him to go to some kind of urgent care soon. Evidently the front end washed on him, he hit something, then bounced back into the middle of the road. He said his body flipped three times and he hit his head each time. The road-rash encompassed his entire left knee; pretty gruesome. Dude was hurt. Bike totaled. All in all, a pretty eventful day.

Shaolin Crane 01-26-2015 08:35 PM

Jeeze, I have an excellent tip for blood stains on interior fyi.

C5Natie 01-26-2015 10:35 PM

Whoa Jon thats pretty crazy. Lucky guy first of all for not getting killed or hurt worse and for you having to have left early and being able to give him a ride. I heard some
guys at Newcomb talking about it. I didnt see anything since I took Big Tujunga back down. Anyway cool to see you and hopefully at the next one too. We need a few more meets and cruises.

Never ever ever fuck around with any head trauma. ALWAYS go to the hospital. Many people have gone to sleep one last time thinking they're basically ok after taking a knock on the head.

That is crazy, good looking out for rider. This must of been why I was able to catch up to you on the way back.(orange corvette)

Small White Car 02-08-2015 11:10 AM

For you guys wanting to hit GMR and 39 to Crystal Lake, those are weekday runs, too many touristas up on 39 and all the ricerbois are trying to drive off GMR on the weekends.
