Drive all the way through to Wrightwood, get a chicken salad sammich at Jensen's, come back to Mt. Wilson for the sunset...

What about the Tour d'Orange?

Any info out there?

"Date: 1-6-12" is there something I'm missing here ?
other then that it is a nice run I've run in to Lenno up there a few times

Shaolin Crane 12-05-2012 11:32 AM

Nate haz time machine. After the cruise i'll be buying some lotto tickets.

mustangray 12-05-2012 11:34 AM

So he got the flux capacitor working, excellent!!

C5Natie 12-05-2012 11:46 AM

Great scott! Yes thats correct, I have a DeLorean time maching. We're gonna go back in time and play the Powerball for $599,000,000.

Lol. 1-6-13, fixed.

Shaolin Crane 12-05-2012 11:48 AM

Already took care of it.

AARP 12-05-2012 02:46 PM

Depending on the weather and whether or not I work I'm tentatively in.

C5Natie 12-05-2012 07:31 PM

Cool. We should already have a nice 6-7 car group then. The more the better.

heypal 12-05-2012 09:24 PM

I'm afraid to now.

Why is that? Lol. I think a 10 car group should be cool. You know not everyone shows anyway.

Is it open all the way?... They do close it during the winter. We drove to the closed gate once before, and came back to the ranch for lunch.

They close it for snow, I don't think even the last round of storms gave us enough to close it down. I don't even think we'll see chain warnings at the beginning of the year...

Climate change anyone?

:pot_stir:

C5Natie 12-07-2012 03:25 PM

I posted this on other forums for 9am that day. Anyone that wants to go past the ranch is welcomed to but I wont have all day so after bfast there I'll head back down.

Small White Car 12-07-2012 04:20 PM

There's also the issue of the $12 tuna melt at Newcomb's.

I mean, there's always a price for atmosphere but the sammich was 'fair' at best.

I paid $5 for an awesome chili cheese dog a couple of weeks ago at Crystal Lake at the end of 39, it was probably nothing more than an Oscar Meyer on a bun with some warmed up Hormel and some shredded cheddar but up there on the porch in the mountains, it was worth every cent.

I'll see about making the trip, I need to get out again, all work and no play and all. I'll try and keep out of your way on the straights, don't worry about where it gets good and twisty, you wont even see me.

:p

C5Natie 12-07-2012 06:50 PM

True, theyre pricey. But then again Im there only like 2-3 times a year. The huevos rancheros werent too bad but maybe the beer covered it up. Lol

On the twisties will I not see you because youre too behind to catch up? J/k. Im careful up there because of idiots coming the other way going over the dividing line sometimes. Still get on it where I can tho.

C5Natie 12-13-2012 12:59 AM

A nice group from LS1Tech should be joining us. I'll be at Panera Bread early for some coffee. The lot we are meeting at is right next to it.

Well, you can make it to the saddle, course the rain isn't done so the snow levels may come down even further.

C5Natie 12-14-2012 11:58 AM

Weather and conditions permitting, this drive will be up to Newcomb Ranch. Of course anyone can keep going if they like. Its is a beautiful drive up there its just some of us have time constraints.

C5Natie 01-01-2013 01:18 PM

I will be checking out Angeles Crest this week to make sure the road is clear. I know is been cold but hopefully theres no snow on the road. Chains are required starting at Islip Saddle but thats 13mi east of Newcomb Ranch. Either way I'll check it out and keep you guys posted.

Redondo Jon 01-01-2013 09:24 PM

Cool because I’d like to do this one but my car doesn’t like snow.

Small White Car 01-02-2013 08:35 AM

As of today, chains required from the Angeles Crest/Nine Mile (Upper Big Tujunga Canyon road) intersection.

That's 19 miles east of La Canada and Nine Mile is before Newcombs.

:(

There's no snow in Malibu.

;)

AARP 01-02-2013 03:19 PM

Yeah, no way I'm going up there right now on summer tires.

Now if anyone would like to donate some snow tires...

C5Natie 01-02-2013 03:40 PM

I wonder how GMR is looking.

Small White Car 01-02-2013 06:27 PM

Wanna still do ACH?

We can run ACH to Nine Mile, Nine Mile to Big T, Big T to Angeles Forest then back to ACH or just out Big T to Sunland.

And with all the cars falling of GMR lately, the police presence is gonna be thick for a little while.

Will keep an eye on CalTrans, supposed to be bright and sunny (but cold) all week.

Rt 1

Rt 2

C5Natie 01-02-2013 06:37 PM

That sounds like a plan. You probably know the roads better then me. Now I just gotta find a place to eat.

We can go the first route back to the meet spotand eat there or take the second route to Sunland and find a place there. Whatever the people decide is good with me. Both seem like good routes.

Redondo Jon 01-03-2013 01:12 AM

Agreed; two good routes. I guess if asked to make a choice I’d pick #1.

C5Natie 01-03-2013 02:00 AM

Lets do the first route then. That way we dont end up to far away, we meet back up at the meet spot where theres places to eat and if anyone falls behind or gets lost they can easily find their way back.

don2000 01-03-2013 11:19 PM

Count me in. I havent had the new whip up there yet. I'll probably be a bit slower in the new car.

Redondo Jon 01-04-2013 01:49 PM

So it looks like rain for Sunday. Are we doing this rain or shine? I just need to know so I can swap to my other wheels that have treaded tires.

I dont wanna risk it for anyone. Too slippery up there in the cold rain. 60% chance of rain for now. If it stays like then we'll move it to next Sunday the 16th and hope for better weather.

Redondo Jon 01-04-2013 09:45 PM

Sounds good. Stupid life-giving rain.

Small White Car 01-05-2013 06:44 PM

16th?

13th.

:p

C5Natie 01-06-2013 09:39 AM

Yeah 13th. Ill update the OP

C5Natie 01-06-2013 11:36 AM

Weather.com I hate you so much

Small White Car 01-06-2013 03:14 PM

So like, not to throw a wrench at the monkey works but I seem to recall trying to use the lot at Panera and it didn't go well. There is a little used lot down the block behind the T.J. Maxx on Foothill that is a usual gathering spot. No one seems to mind us being there, it's just a short hop to ACH and if I recall, there is a small indie coffee house across the street or in the strip mall out front. Always support your locals.

Redondo Jon 01-06-2013 05:11 PM

My favorite spot to meet for a run in this area. No objections here.
