OC Exhaust Shops HELP!

Alright so I want to get my resonator chopped off. It should cost $50-$80, but i would like to have it done at a good shop(no hole in the walls). Any suggestions of where (the closer to Anaheim Hills the better)? Thanks

Check with seanplunk but I believe this is who he uses sometimes...

I believe the owners name is Craig. His father used to be a neighbor of ours.

How does the exhaust on the 55 work? Does it have a resonator and a muffler or something bizarre like that?

Cats --> Resonator --> Mufflers

Basicially all the resonator delete does is make it less quiet, no power gains/losses :)

I had my truck's exhaust done over at the Muffler Man some years back and he did a great job. He even got a level out to make sure the exhaust tip was level at ride height. Great work!! :drink:

On my last truck it cost me just south of $300 for a full exhaust w/ flowmaster muffler. ... thos one.. well id guess somewhere in the 1200-2000 range to have one done correctly.. far more than i want to pay nor can afford.

I just went looking and I can't even find any for your car. Modding nice cars is expensive :sm_laughing:

Another vote for the muffler man. He did my dual 3" mandrel bent subway system. Some of the nicest welds I've seen, and he must be using stainless since my pipes haven't rusted.

Also, he always charges me about a 1/2 or a 1/3 as much as he should.

arg, well muffler man is only open Mon-Fri 8-5... exactly when i work

mmm may have to show up late one day :judge:

when i had my custom catback done... i had it done over at a shop in santa ana that my dad knows personally through his work, because he sends his vehicles over for muffler jobs. And i must admit, his prices are VERY good to the average consumer ( i say this because i do get a discount) compared to many other muffler shops i've been to / Quoted. I live in laguna hills and sure there's about 20 exhaust shops within a 6mile radius, but i'd rather drive the 15miles to this shop, not because i get a discount, but because he's honest, trustworthy, and knows what hes doing!

Chris does do nice work, but can be a little on the high side.

Muffler Man in Placentia did a custom exhaust for my 65 GTO. I had him go 3" back with a custon x-pipe into 3" mufflers and step down from the mullers to the tails in 2.5". He did an excellent job. He wasn't the cheapest but did quality work. Someone recently told me that Muffler Man is under new ownership from when I had my work done and that work is still top quality.

For a resonator delete it should be pretty cheap. The late model GTOs have the same set up as the C55: cats => resonator => mufflers

Good stuff, how does it sound?

SoCalC55 01-27-2009 06:20 PM

no real difference at idle nor WOT, but from like 2-4K there is a bit more grunt. If nothing else it ditched the 45lb resonator and im satisfied
