Mini Martin: The Idea
My brother and I have had a hankering to build a 240z for a while now. We couldn't agree on the engine. He wanted an SBC and I wanted a 2JZGTE. The solution, well obviously it's more cylinders. So I just happened across an ebay auction, no reserve, no bids, for a 5.0L V12 out of a BMW 750il. If it stays super cheap, like a $100 territory, and it doesn't look completely destroyed on inspection, I think I'll pull the trigger and set it aside.

That would be amazing. |
Yea, amazing, if you can fit it. Which I think is possible,

I'm not sure it will fit. Also know that it will be very expensive to buy parts for.

Plus these cars are assets that will be used to promote the site, and if done cleverly, might even have some positive equity at the time of sale. In other words, it's a different kind of cost than purely recreational. |
Whoops. Ixney on the BMW V12 eh, it's no reserve but a $1,599 starting bid and my initial research shows those motors are a giant PITA to work on. They are effectively two M20s mated together, including TWO separate ECUs and Harnesses. Not even I'm that 'adventurous'.
Stay tuned. |
