My Cobra is definately not ready to run on a road course but when it is I want to run you in your Mustang on the Roval. Your Mustang in factory trim with the Track Package is basically the same as the Cobra is set up now except for the power. I also have more time in the alignment as I'm only running -2 degrees of camber and the car pushes. I will be realigning it at -3 degrees for the track and will run the -2 on the street.

I never said I had the Roval mastered but I do think I can run a good time there even with only going once. Especially since I will have rear brakes when I go again.

The Cobra made 450rwhp on the race tune when I raced you at the drag strip. It made 471 after I installed the UPR intake tube. It's the Chevelle that made 460rwhp.

BADDASSC6 09-03-2013 04:51 PM

Sure, this will be like our drag race where I'm on street tire your on a significantly modified car. It however will be much closer than if you raced the vette. I am standing by.

94cobra69ss396 09-03-2013 05:04 PM

I thought you had plans for the Mustang?

I'm not sure how GM handles this but I'm assuming it's like Ford and cuts fuel. That means that every time you hit the limiter your running a cylinder lean. That will take it's toll. I guess since I build my engines and don't have money to drop into it if I break it that I'm easier on it. Like I said I shift the Cobra at 5800 - 6000 and kept the factory rev limiter because that is all the cam is good for. On the Chevelle I have a 7000 RPM limiter chip in MSD box but I shift at 6500. I've hit valve float in it once at 7200 RPM during a burnout when I didn't have a chip in the box. That is why it has a 7000 chip now.

Yup cut fuel or spark. Yup I drive it hard. Yup parts are expensive so I pay shops that build a lot of motors to ensure that I get the most out of my dollars. Racing is hard and expensive. The new motor doesn't get rev'd as hard as the old one only because it doesn't continue to make power at 7K+ like the old one. I do actually make pretty good money, but I also have a fund that I don't touch for catastrophic failure. Even with all the abuse the LS2 with the ETP heads lasted 3 years of of racing. That is very very very good considering the heat of the California desert the revs and the times it posted.

I do. I plan on the Hellion single turbo kit with the FR CJ intake. The goal is to run 9's. There is an older post discussing whether the FR SC is better than the Turbo kit. What is your timeline to get your car ready?

Faster driver. I think that if we went to Adams and I brought the vette I could beat you by the end of the night. Mainly because I would use my Traqmate.

Except the power is an understatement ~370 to mid 500's with the meth. You would also be running NT05s to my factory Pirellis.

I cannot concur that 150-200 rwhp+ Tire advantage is about the same. I ran my 1:49.8 with the factory calipers on the vette. So big brakes are nice, but if you are going for one flying lap then they are not an advantage. I know because it was a hat-trick that I did for years.

Shaolin Crane 09-03-2013 09:02 PM

insurance tried to screw me by filing the claim under collision. After quoting my binder and proving to them that a tire blow out is a comprehensive coverage claim she says ''your adjuster will make that decision''

So I have a feeling that they're gonna jerk me around big time.

If they do, sue them. $35 to file in small claims court, bring that binder and your contract, read it to the judge, pow! ...Pow! :judge: ...Pow!

enkeivette 09-04-2013 05:24 AM

And if you win, ask the judge for your $35 back, you will likely get it.

It won't be mid 500s with the meth. I will actually lose a little power because I won't be changing the tune. I will also be running the pump gas tune which only put down 467rwhp. I put down 497rwhp on the race gas tune.

I won't be able to get anything until next year. I'm hoping that I'll be able to get everything when I get my tax return next year. So you will probably already have the turbo setup on your car and will be making a lot more HP than me.

BADDASSC6 09-04-2013 08:17 AM

So 100-150 RWHP advantage + a tire advantage is about the same then?

I have some extra capital this fall and next spring. My #1 priority is the vette. The Mustang is awesome, it's so awesome that my Father in law wants to by it. He was actually going to by a Boss, but the dealership wanted $20k over sticker. Sarah wants me to sell it because she wants the new C7. I am trying to resist the MOD bug until the Z07 comes out so see if it's worth a shit.

When we race I will be ready. Don't worry about me.

94cobra69ss396 09-04-2013 09:10 AM

I meant the suspension and brakes. If you don't have turbos by then, then yes I will have about 100rwhp more but somehow I don't see you showing up without a stickier tire. Besides, you did say "I will rape both of you in my wife's car. I will do a flying lap in the stang. Then we will see if you can match it."

Preliminary indications for ZO7, unless I heard wrong is 600HP NA from the factory on a smaller displacement.

With or without new LT1 tech?

I don't think it's possible, but the base model ECU does have boost and waste gate tables.

I meant < 7L. It would have to spin and breath like a Ferarri, but that's a big bore short stroke, flat plane crank, crazy DOHC. Not sure that's in the cards, even with all the progress that has been made for OHV, but who knows considering how far they've come while still making them cleaner to boot.

I want one of those DOHC mercruiser Corvette motors.

The LT5 wasn't bad for its time but I would only take on in a ZR1, I don't think I would ever swap it into anything.

But the new LT1 is a killer, no need for DOHC, we have VVT with our single cam and we have DI, and the fucker still gets 29 MPG EPA, (they could of said 30 MPG if they would of kept in eco all the time)

I really cant wait till people crack the new ECM and start to mess with it, I cant even think about how much power is just a tune away.

Steering box is sort of a common problem. Lifted truck often get new suspension components all the time. Stuff does wear out in 250k

I have put upper and lower ball joints and the Explorer twice now since doing the SAS. I've also replced the heims on the steering 3 times.

You prob couldnt really modify it very much, but at 400 hp stock it wouldnt take much. Plus I love it when people think Im an idiot, only to discover that they are just ignorant.

Like my neighbor, he comes up to me and says, what is that shiny thing behind your front bumper? A cold air intake? I say no, thats an intercooler, its supercharged. He says huh, and leaves.

He actually turns around down the block and comes back to say, but how could it be intercooled if its supercharged? As if I was lying, I showed him.

I would love to have an LT5 in an old hot rod, people walk over and say, what kinda motor is that? Id say, a DOHC corvette motor. Hmmmmm
