Wow, what a difference! Good work.

Shaolin Crane 10-16-2011 12:13 PM

Thanks, just need my silver powder to show up and weld up the tabs and i can make it look new again.

Shaolin Crane 10-16-2011 10:03 PM

Some of the weekends work.

Leedom 10-16-2011 10:07 PM

Great job on the intake Guy! Looks awesome.

Shaolin Crane 10-16-2011 11:27 PM

Thanks, but its just a raw finish currently, it'll look better after the silver powder coat.

Hmm...who told me they want a C5? Oh yeah......

Shaolin Crane 10-18-2011 12:57 AM

I do also believe the want was between a C5 and a whippled crown vic

Meh, i'll get both eventually

Shaolin Crane 10-23-2011 02:54 PM

Finished the shortblock

Fabbed up a gt500 heat exchanger in place of the puny vortech one, especially having a mount bracket made for a much cleaner install
Here it is compared to the vortech exchanger

Here is how i had to modify the bracket to rotate the exchanger in place and make it clear on the car

Mounted on the car

Shaolin Crane 10-27-2011 12:38 AM

How my shelf looks right now

Shaolin Crane 10-27-2011 12:41 AM

94cobra69ss396 10-30-2011 07:36 PM

Looking good.

Shaolin Crane 10-30-2011 09:40 PM

Thanks man
So I finished sanding off the rust from the car sitting while my back was injured, finished the engine bay, door jambs and hatch jamb. This week i'll re-sand the doors, weld the hatch logo pinholes and re-sand. Just waiting on an opportunity to paint the jambs and bay so I can re-assemble the car and get some shop space back. Possibly get the interior back in and work towards getting the car running. Though that likely wont happen until our anniversary. Here are the pics

Also finished fixing the intake, re-tapped the lower and filed the upper mounting ear flat. Just need to port the lower and then powder coat it.

94cobra69ss396 10-31-2011 10:30 AM

Great job on the weld. Did you machine the mounting surface to make it flat?

Shaolin Crane 10-31-2011 12:03 PM

I actually didnt weld it. We had some stuff needed to be welded for the shop so i slipped it in so i didnt have to pay for it :) after he was done i machined everything flat the finished with 1000 grit on a block to remove the machine marks.

Shaolin Crane 11-18-2011 10:06 AM

For those keeping score, intake ported and cost is $50

94cobra69ss396 11-18-2011 10:27 AM

Looks good. Is that the Performer intake you bought?

Shaolin Crane 11-18-2011 11:22 AM

Yup. So close to assembly i can taste it

Shaolin Crane 11-23-2011 06:06 PM

So i tested out the new powder for Damian today, i'm kinda iffy about how it like it, its very difficult to spray, really fine so it puddles alot. Came out decent on my stuff but i dunno if i'd feel comfortable charging for it.

Damian 11-23-2011 10:35 PM

I like the matte finish to it a lot, maybe there is a better silver that isn't overlly priced?

Shaolin Crane 11-23-2011 10:39 PM

I wish, its the only silver in a single stage finish, i think i have the technique for spraying down but its difficult to get a smooth surface out of it since it is pretty sloppy when i shoot it. Most likely my POS gun. I'd really like you to see it in person before deciding if its acceptable.

Shaolin Crane 11-24-2011 01:12 AM

Also talked to my builder, he hooked me up with their price on PEP parts, single piece chromoly pushrods are going to cost me $2.83 each, and the adjustable guide plates are $20

I'm heading back home from Fresno tomorrow, I can stop by on the way home. Or we can work in a new gun as art of the payment? I'm going to look and see what I can find.

Damian 11-24-2011 02:38 PM

Summitracing sells complete kits and media and accessories.

Its the same gun that eastwood, summit etc sells. Its not that bad and should turn out better on your intake. The gun i want is about $1000. Stop by and look everything over, ive gotten the technique down alot better.

Damian 11-24-2011 02:54 PM

Send me your address please.

Damian 11-24-2011 02:57 PM

I looked on eBay and they have serums for over $10k!

Shaolin Crane 11-24-2011 02:59 PM

Yup, and the specialized ovens can cost up to 200k

I know the ovens can get pricey, we had some huge ovens in the navy that did a lot of powder coating for us. You could park a car in them.

Shaolin Crane 11-24-2011 03:15 PM

Ah to dream of all the tools i'd love to own.

Whilst doing Damians stuff I finished my shit as well. Ive been up for 3 days straight and I'm absolutely gonzo, but here it is, blower brackets, oil pan, pulleys, and a/c mounting bracket

Plus some sunlight photos

Lovin that the flake only shows in direct sunlight, also assembledish the upper to save shelf space.

Tis nearly time.

Damian 11-26-2011 09:46 PM

All your parts look good, especially the heads.

Shaolin Crane 11-27-2011 12:03 AM

Thanks, the heads are just painted though

Damian 11-27-2011 12:31 AM

The porting makes up for that.

fiveohwblow 11-27-2011 09:23 AM

Are you done yet?

Shaolin Crane 11-27-2011 09:35 AM

I'm only doing things that dont cost money right now, if my rims off my truck would sell already i could probably finish it. But as of now no more spending.
