Yup, lq1s are even cheaper.

enkeivette 04-29-2013 10:39 AM

No way, I havent even see a T56 for much less than that

Vettezuki 04-29-2013 11:17 AM

Show me.

define: several
1. More than two but not many.

Requirement:
Three current examples of complete LS1s + T56 at $1,500~. I'll give you a 10% upward margin: $1,650. Therefore <= $1,650. No cracked blocks or other nonsense. Complete engine, TB to pan, complete trans.

Failure = BS.

$2400-5500 on ebay right now

enkeivette 04-29-2013 02:29 PM

Hey Brutal, you ever get that Grand Sport? I saw one the other day... so sexy. I may have violated the sanctity of my relationship with my Vette

Guy likes it rough. Plus he is pretty good at finding deals. I'll give him that. I haven't been in this market for a while so I suspect it might be down a little from when I was in it, but $1,500 for LS+T56 (you know, together not a couple scattered bits and pieces) and several, not just one temporary outlier from a desperation sale, smelled like crackhead territory.

enkeivette 04-29-2013 03:11 PM

PS, the $2400 motor is hydrolocked. So really what we've got on ebay is $4800-5500

Vettezuki 04-29-2013 03:22 PM

I spent $2,500 on my H&C long block and thought it was a pretty good price. . .

Thats a fantastic price, I spent $1200 on my trans... although in Guys defense, LT1 T56s go for a lot more than LS1 T56s.

Shaolin Crane 04-29-2013 06:29 PM

I looked a couple weeks ago for a project for 2 different people. I doubt i'll be able to provide links as they are gone as soon as they're posted. But my RSS, live update and constant search feeds showed me at least 5 in the past 4 weeks. These aren't "complete" motors per say. Sometimes they're missing intakes or accessories but still very doable for a budget.

enkeivette 04-29-2013 07:27 PM

Need more proof than flapping gums :p

Excellent base for a high power engine. Not an LS1 (all aluminum). And price does not include trans.

Good base. Gonna cost you some time and money to finish.

Neither of these are anywhere near LS1 AND T56 for $1,500.

Ya they both don't have trans but saying its gonna cost you 4k for a ls1 and t56 is on the high side, right now the price is about 2.5K for a good LS with a t56

and a LQ9 is a better then a LS1 in a lot of ways. yes its iron but all that means is more boost lol

You guys obviously don't have to answer for how much things cost to anyone. I get a 5% window on estimates for proejcts. Outside that, got some splain'n to do. Let's be nice and say $2.5k for "ok" sort of together LS1+T56. That's 60%.

It's better in precisely one way, it's stronger. Though, notably stronger as it is basically the same mold as the aluminum block which has to be strong for aluminum, but since it's iron, it's much stronger. It's worse in one clear way, heavier, and one marginal way, heat retention vs. aluminum.

Shaolin Crane 04-30-2013 11:33 PM

So I did my best to light foot the truck to test out the mileage. Other then a few 4x4 launches(which is awesome btw) I've picked up about 100-120 miles per tank after the swap. Truck has near zero smoke, should have done it sooner.

heypal 04-30-2013 11:45 PM

Take me for a ride damn it.

heypal 04-30-2013 11:48 PM

Lol sup Ben how you been man? Guy lol I went to see a movie and there you go rocking the truck.
