So i've been really pushing on getting this thing goin since i'm back to quad power. I also. splurged a bit as a reward for paying off my debts. Grabed a NIB kirban fpr off cl for $40, cde-hd137bt alpine head unit, new lock kit for the car, weather stripping kit, and a few other goodies.

I'm trying to track down about 50-100sqf of sound deadener to lay down before the carpet comes in but i'm having a hard time finding some that isnt retardly expensive.

Do you consider this retardly expensive?

PM ls1z28, he was telling something that's commonly used in H/VAC and quite cheap is basically the same as Dyamat. But I don't recall exactly what it is, or if you have to go to a contractor supplier instead of Home Depot, etc.

Yes I know about it, peel and seal, jiffy seal, megabond etc. They are NOT the same as hushmat, dynamat extreme, second skin etc.

The problem with the roofing, hvac, flooring and other insulators is they're asphalt based. Auto motive sound deadener, the good shit is 100% butyl, nothing less.

Asphalt based products are good for a MAX of 130*

Butyl based products are good for 400-500*

This means it can be installed in every portion of the vehicle without worrying about melting and seeping out of body panels. Best of all, no smell.

How long before its street ready?

Shaolin Crane 08-01-2012 10:32 PM

Still waiting on alot of hhit to come in, still need the throttle cable from John, still need to refinish the 1/4 windows, interior, drive train, windshield, tune, back registration. At least a month, sucks, cause i really wanted to compete in true street :(
Mechanically however everything seems fine so far, though the "ceramic" header coating i used flaked off in the first few minutes of idling, which sucks cause they look like shit now. Just need to buttom up all the vacuum lines and smog equipment and the engine bay will be finish. Hoping to finish the exhaust this weekend, cause well, its fucking loud right now.
